How many times has it happened to us in a workplace to receive mistreatment or
abuse by the employer? ---- How many times have we had to put up with excessiveor ridiculous demands to meet in order to take the mango home and be able to makea difference at the end of the month or simply be able to pay bills? ---- Howmany times have we had to "give" more time of our lives or leave our loved onesto simply "comply"? As if it were an investment in the future. ---- Have we everthought that "complying" was the last thing that thousands of workers did? ----Absorbed by the economic urgency, inflation, the precariousness of work,something very important is missing us, at least at times, and that is that lifeis leaving us in exchange for very little. ---- The existing inequality between afew wealthy owners of almost everything and the vast majority that is rushing tomake ends meet is the basis of the daily humiliation to which we are subjected.Necessary condition to exploit us as much as they can and then kick us out intothe street.The bosses need us to be submissive, obedient... submissive! But above all,disorganized! Otherwise, they would not be able to enforce their orders orappropriate the fruit of our effort and work, or disregard the most basic labor laws.Like feudal lords, they believe they have the right to do whatever they want withthe workers. From yelling at them and trashing them in front of the rest of theircolleagues, denying them the right to food and rest, and even preventing orpunishing talk between co-workers, to extorting workers by firing them if theydid not have sexual relations with their bosses, and then humiliate and denigratethem by viralizing photos and videos; and so a thousand more examples.Well, but there are unions, it will be said. It is true that there are tradeunion organizations, but they are in the hands of bureaucracies whose function isto act as support for exploitation, to police the bosses, and for this reason notmuch is expected of them. A leader or delegate, who endorses or minimizes theabuse that we experience daily, does not deserve to be where he is; but a unionthat not only allows these practices, but also rewards those who from the unioncollaborate with our subjugation, cannot be called a union and has no right toinvoke any representation of the workers.Do not misunderstand what I say. The union was, is and will be our best tool andweapon to frustrate the exploitation and subjugation plans, and it can be thebattering ram that breaks the walls in which they intend to lock us up and getout of the labyrinth in which they put us. But like any tool, if it stops servingthe objectives and the sense with which it was created, then it is useless assuch and it is time to replace it with a new or better one.We workers and workers need to have unions that respond to our interests andneeds, not simple managers of campsites or some palliative to the exploitation towhich we are condemned; nor professionals of the accomplice trade unionism of thehustler business community.Companions and companions!
