On Friday, November 11th, the main capitalist media vehicles carried headlines
such as "Lula criticizes the 'fiscal stability thing', and the stock market fallshard; dollar skyrockets" or "Lula's speech on spending ceiling brings downmarkets", among others. The vehicles referred to a speech given by Lula tocongressmen, in which he criticized the cut in social spending to meet fiscaltargets. Lula's statements would have caused an "earthquake in the markets",leaving economists and shareholders "fearful" concerned with "fiscalresponsibility". The large communication conglomerates prove, once again, thatthey serve as spokespersons for Faria Lima and the parasites of financialspeculation. ---- The next Lula-Alckmin administration seeks to approve theso-called Transition PEC, to change the spending ceiling and make programs likeBolsa Família, worth R$ 600, viable. The same media companies that supported LavaJato , the 2016 coup and the anti-people reforms, which paved the way forBolsonaro, are already beginning to put pressure on the next government not tointerfere with the profits that rentiers, loan sharks and speculators have had inrecent years. Let's remember that these conglomerates have always been closed tothe ultraliberal economic policies of the "Chicago Boy" Paulo Guedes, as well asthe sectors of the financial market that are already charging the newgovernment's bill.In order to partially occupy state power, the sectors of the left that head thebroad front are already becoming hostages of the dominant classes, having tobargain for positions and ministries with the liberal sectors, of the right, thatmake up their alliance. They have to give in whatever is possible to guarantee aminimum social cushion to keep Capital's exploitation of the people "bearable"during their government. Those who win are the capitalists and liberalpoliticians like Simone Tebet and Alckmin himself, with an eye not only on thisgovernment, but also on the next elections.While negotiations are taking place behind closed doors, the extreme right isstill taking to the streets. Even with the retreat of roadblocks, there are stillcamps in front of barracks. As if that were not enough, the Military Party givesideological support to this version of the "green chickens" of the 21st century.With ambiguous statements, the top of the Armed Forces maintains the climate ofpsychological warfare against groups considered enemies.All of this already indicates what the dynamics will be from now on: thecoalition government of social democracy demoted under pressure from thefinancial market and the corporate media; criticism from agribusiness concernedwith export taxation and wanting more financing, more release of poisons and moreguarantees for the accumulation of private land ownership, without any advance inagrarian reform or land demarcation; and the extreme right threatening a coup andseeking to advance in the institutional field, with a presence in the Senate andCongress, and in the streets, with a constant coup-like atmosphere.Given the composition of this scenario, the position of the left field led by thePT until now has been to do nothing, to ignore the extreme right. Popularmovements linked to the PT project are increasingly retreating and their basesare practically demobilized to put any limits on the reactionary project underwayin Brazil, increasingly integrated with US Trumpism. The majority sectors of thesocial movements have acted as "guarantees of the social order", they continue toreproduce the PT's guidelines of retreat and non-conflict, which only gives morespace for the extreme right to grow and advance more and more.We do not sustain any kind of illusion with the conjuncture that opens in thenext period. We know that it is the organized people who must raise the level ofconflict with Capital and the dominant classes. We believe that retreat anddemobilization are bad political choices for the social struggle.
