We communicate that, after a long process of discussion - which involved the
entire Brazilian Anarchist Coordination (CAB) and the Latin American AnarchistCoordination (CALA) -, the Anarchist Organization Socialism Libertarian (OASL,from São Paulo), the Anarchist Federation of Rio de Janeiro (FARJ), RusgaLibertária (RL, from Mato Grosso) and Coletivo Mineiro Popular Anarquista (COMPA,from Minas Gerais) took the decision to leave the CAB. ---- While being treatedrespectfully, this separation reflects significant political differences andviews that, at this time, we consider irreconcilable. The central reason for ourdeparture has to do with the balance we make of the last few years of the CABand, also, with the paths that we understand to be necessary for the next periodof development of social struggles and Brazilian organized anarchism. Weunderstand that, finally, it is time to overcome the status of coordination andfound a national anarchist political organization.Brazilian Especifismo has always had the foundation of a national organization asits project. The first attempt was the Libertarian Socialist Organization (OSL),which operated between 1997 and 2000. However, it did not work, since it wasbuilt in a hurry and without the due maturity of the states and their militancy. The greatest achievement of this first process was the impetus for the stateexperiences of Popular Resistance (RP), which began in 1999. It was from themthat we returned to reinvest in the political and organizational process, thistime, with much more calm, founding, in 2002, the Forum of Organized Anarchism(FAO). We gave up that intended unity in the OSL and started to bring togetherindividuals, groups and organizations around only the agreement with two axes:the need for organization and the need for social work (by the masses). As in any process of political construction, there were moments of disagreement, tension, conflicts and internal divisions. With the departure of the currentPopular Anarchist Union (UNIPA) and the end of the Libertarian Fight (LL) /Libertarian Socialist Organization of São Paulo (OSL-SP), the FAO began to renewitself internally from 2009, with the rapprochement of the FARJ and a set ofstate organizations that had been formed under his influence and even with thepresence of his militants. All organizations in this network have joined FAOsince 2009; the most consolidated state initiatives (RJ, SP, CE, PR, SC) andothers that were starting their articulation (MG, PE, a new reconstruction in BA,among others). In this whole process, until the junction with the newconsolidated and articulated states, some states that were (first training in BAand an articulation in GO) and others that remained in FAO (especially RS, AL andMT) were very important, the which played a leading role. This merger allowed forthe great advances that culminated in the founding of CAB in 2012.The proposal, at that time, was to take a step towards national organization. Weleft the organicity of a forum (space for exchanging information and carrying outcommon tasks) for coordination (national articulation of state organizations). Inthis new stage, we established that we would build a national organization in themedium term to strengthen the ideological and social struggle in Brazil. Wewanted to unify concepts and processes in order to, in the medium term, form anational anarchist political organization. This need for unification was acomplex challenge, as the FAO and the network that was built around the FARJreferred to the logic of "organic groups", proposed in the document "Fight andOrganization", from 1996. There was, at that moment, a plurality of conceptionsand realities, which we have been homogenizing since 2009, in a movement thatcontinued throughout the first years of CAB. Although all states defendedEspecifismo and its general lines, there were many other aspects that needed tobe homogenized, both in ideological and theoretical terms, as well as instrategic and programmatic terms.Until that moment, we managed to move forward in our project, deepeningorganicity and social work, maintaining this horizon of a national organizationthat was beinThe criticisms we made of the CAB were diverse, and formalized in this document. It is not our intention to go back to what was posted there. It is enough topoint out that the central aspect of our criticism is that, in our region(Southeast/Center-West), we were already functioning as a regional politicalorganization, unifying processes, concepts, lines, etc. We understood that it wasnecessary to move towards nationalization, finally conforming the nationalorganization that had been in our project since 2012. However, for this to bepossible, it was necessary to solve the problem of the "irreconcilable paths"that existed within the CAB, the which went through three major aspects: 1.)Conception of anarchist political organization; 2.) Political line and practice;3.) Theoretical and ideological line. It is important to point out that, for us,these criticisms were also identified as self-criticism, since we wereparticipating in the organizational process, we also had responsibility for theproblems we pointed out. However, in our assessment - which was based on all the debates in recent yearsin the most different instances of the CAB -, there would be major divergencesfrom our criticisms and propositions. Recognizing that the CAB had played animportant role in the national organizational construction of anarchism and thatthere were different positions, with different gradations, on the differentpoints we mentioned, we understood that perhaps the best path would be to put anend to the CAB itself, recognizing its exhaustion as tool. So, those who wantedto advance in organizational terms (as in our proposal) would do that, and thosewho didn't would form another forum or coordination. There were intense discussions and different responses to our document. However,in general, the other organizations aligned themselves in the sense ofdisagreeing that the dissolution of the CAB would be the best alternative. Therefore, they rejected the proposal of our organizations. Our militancy, withno perspective of solving the problems pointed out, and avoiding to intensify theconflicts, decided to leave the CAB. We inform you, on this occasion, that weintend to constitute ourselves, soon, as an anarchist political organization andmove towards nationalization.CONFLICT AT FARJAt the same time, at the end of 2020, a group of FARJ militants sent a request toCAB to follow up on an internal complaint. The CAB followed up on the complaint and, during this period, determined thefreezing of the FARJ. At the end of the process, it reached the conclusion that asector of the organization had failed to comply with the criteria indicated forstaying at CAB, disrespecting national indications and decisions. The wholesituation provoked a lack of political trust with this part of the militancy and, consequently, the CAB decided that this group will not be able to return to itsinstances. Finally, it was deliberated to unfreeze the political identity of theFARJ, which was under the responsibility of the group of militants that had madethe complaint. Two years since the beginning of the follow-up, respecting national procedures, assessments and deliberations, the FARJ returns to the public and aligns itselfwith the other organizations that today leave the CAB, sharing our criticism andthe need to build a national anarchist organization.DESPITE THE DIFFERENCES... RESPECT AND FRATERNITYEven with the divergence of paths, we reinforce the need to maintain respectfuland fraternal relations between our future organization and CAB. In these yearsof joint construction, we have learned and matured as anarchist militancy. Evenwith the political differences, we wish that we can all develop and contribute toour common final objective: the emancipation of all dominated. We have no doubtthat the fight against our enemies and for our socialist and libertarian projectis greater than the differences between our organizations, but we believe that,at this moment, this disengagement is necessary so that our fight can advance.Arriba l@s que luchan!Fight, create, people power!Ethics, commitment, freedom!Coletivo Mineiro Popular Anarchista (COMPA)Anarchist Federation of Rio de Janeiro (FARJ)Libertarian Socialist Anarchist Organization (OASL)Libertarian Swoop (RL)(Coming soon, a new anarchist political organization)December 2022https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=471085035215271&set=a.282381547418955_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
