Brazil was the country that most received people from the African continent for
slave labor during the period of the Portuguese invasion. This makes Brazil oneof the countries with the largest black population in the world. However, thelives of black people are not easy and that is why November 20th continues to bea day of mourning and struggle. Economic and social inequalities have widened inthe last period. Black women continue to suffer from the highest unemploymentrate and, when employed, have the worst jobs with the lowest incomes[1], whichshows a link between economic exploitation and racial and gender oppression. ----In addition to capitalist violence, state violence also has color, it has race.In 2011, 60.3% of the prison population was black and 36.6% white, and in 2021,67.5% of prisoners are black, while 29% are white.[2]Therefore, we have aneconomic system that exploits the black population and the State thatincarcerates and carries out a true massacre against the black population. Whilethe police fatality rate against whites fell by 30.9% in 2021, the police killed5.8% more black people in the same period. We have noillusions that a new Lula government will do things differently, as it alreadyshows its alliances with the agrarian bourgeoisie, being an enemy of the peoplewho want land!The social-democratic camp (PT, PSOL, PCdoB, PDT and other black movement groups)and the bourgeois media usually claim that the Bolsonaro/PL government "pervertedthe institutions" of the State, and take the Palmares Foundation as a clearexample. We affirm that the function of this body, as well as Funai for example,is to legitimize the violence suffered by the black and indigenous populationrespectively. The Palmares Foundation, despite its importance as a collection ofthe black movement, as well as other institutes funded by NGOs, hide the coreissue for the black people of Brazil, which is access to land and work. And theyleave this debate aside because to face this land issue, it would be necessary toconfront the agrarian bourgeoisie, agribusiness, and petty bourgeoisie that theyare, are not willing to do.Thus, the action of these institutes, agencies and NGOs focus on combating racismas an individual "moral failure", and not as an integral part of the capitalistsystem to exploit this workforce paying less, thus generating high profits forthe capitalists. We can only fight racism by fighting for land for black andindigenous peoples, in cities and in the countryside, fighting the State thatkills us and the capitalism that exploits us.
