Today, November 25th, 2022, a comrade was on trial in Dortmund. She was accused
of attacking police officers from the north station during an operation todisturb the peace last August. In truth, there was no attack on their part. Thatevening, the police officers attacked her for no reason, threw her to the groundand then took her to the police station. There she was beaten and insulted beforebeing released into the street in the middle of the night. But it didn't stopthere: the thugs in uniform even reported her afterwards to prevent her fromtalking about what happened. But the comrade decided to go public with her case.State clearly what happened.So it came to a hearing before the District Court today. Solidarity peopleorganized a rally in support of the comrade. We didn't make it, but it wasimportant for us to make it clear that we stand by the comrade's side. Therefore,we sent the following greeting to the rally:"Dear comrades,unfortunately we cannot be with you here in court this morning. Nevertheless, asan anarchist group, we want to convey our solidarity to you, the Platform Ruhr,with the following greeting:Of course, this solidarity applies first to you, dear comrade. Because it is youwho stands before the court today. You are on trial because it wasn't enough forthem to insult, hit and humiliate you that night. They also wanted to make surethat you didn't get the idea to talk publicly about what happened to you at thenorth station. That's why they reported you, even though they know that it's alljust dirty lies they're spreading here.Because if it's up to them, then you shouldn't talk. And if you have alreadyspoken, then you should at least remain silent in the future. Because only if thesilence continues can they continue like this. Then they continue to roam thestreets like the armed gang of racists, thugs, kidnappers and murderers that theyare. Then they go on killing innocent youths with submachine guns and homelesspeople with tasers.They didn't want you to talk. You dear comrade, but you talked. About whathappened to you. And about the fact that it is not an isolated case that thepolice officers in this station mistreat people. That it hits people like youand, even more often, people who don't fit in at all with the law enforcementofficers' cityscape. Black people and people of color, homeless people, drugdealers. That this is not just about police violence, but also about racism.Only by breaking the silence are we able to put an end to it. you did that Youdid what was right, what is right, and will always be right. You are now standingup for the truth, even though you know it might be easier to stay silent. Becauseyou did the right thing, we want to express our deep gratitude. We send you allour greetings, all our solidarity and all the strength you need to get through this.Rest assured: you are not alone. We and so many others know that you are doingthe right thing. That the thugs are not on trial here today, but are sitting inthe north police station and planning the next manhunt over coffee. Together wewill face the consequences that the state imposes on you. Thanks to everyone else who came heretoday."After a short hearing, the court session ended with a happy outcome: the caseagainst the comrade was dropped, there were no conditions. We are very happyabout that - especially for the comrade.At the same time, we have no illusions about the nature of this negotiation. Thisresult is not a product of a "fair" system. The judiciary remains the police'sbest ally. There is no reason to trust her or place hope in her. Instead, itremains necessary to organize against police violence and to support thoseaffected by repression.
