Well, the Commissioners reported me to the PublicProsecutor's Office of Agrigento for interruption of public service sinceaccording to their point of view I would have prevented the company fromcontinuing the work. Not only the havoc of public parks, also the denunciation!Are we in a democracy or in a totalitarian regime where you can't even protest?Clearly I will defend myself and through the lawyers I will file a countersuit.---- To justify their insane act, the Commissioners used the complaints of someinhabitants of the houses near the trees as a pretext, whose roots allegedlyinfiltrated the subsoil until they reached the floors, lifting them or evensprouting in the toilets.These trees were planted about 70 years ago. To make a comparison, they are equalin size and species to the Ficus of the Viale della Vittoria in Agrigento. Theycould have saved them but they didn't want to because they had to spend a millioneuros for the redevelopment, with its playground for children, and the repavingof Corso Umberto I for 500 meters. Our proposal was to place sheet metal panelsvertically in the ground, between the trees and the houses, so as to form abarrier and prevent the roots from entering the houses. Works that havepreviously been successfully carried out in other municipalities. He didn't care.This work would have hindered the redevelopment project which today I define as awaste of public money! There was no need to go and redo the flooring in CorsoUmberto I. It was as good as it was, one with indestructible Catania pavingstones and the other with 15 cm thick bitumen, also in excellent condition.With a million euros they could build a large part of the sieve water network. Hedidn't care. Just as he was not interested in the real problems of citizens. Theysolved the budget deficit by raising taxes: €150 more per family for water and a33% increase in waste. Increases for which in 2018 we had gone on strike andprotested strongly, with 2000 people taking to the streets. I regret to say it,however, this time the citizens were not there to defend the trees. There wasonly me chaining myself up and the lawyer Rossella Amoroso protesting with me.Only a few citizens came to the scene to show their solidarity.There were three Commissioners, but the one who stood out the most for arroganceand dictatorial attitudes was Commissioner Oddo. He had to take revenge and hedid it because he felt disturbed by the formal legal action that we set up withthe lawyers against the tax increase. The complaint is based on the interruptionof public service; I want to clarify that I have not interrupted any service.First because it is a private company; secondly because I was chained up andunable to hinder the work; third because if they wanted to uproot the tree towhich I was chained they could break the chain and carry me away by weight.
