neck. The proliferation of actions of ecological or peasant resistance in recent
years can be explained by the agitation of a few "old truckers" of
Notre-Dame-des-Landes, all in their insatiable appetite for "violent" actions,
more than by a burst of dignity, coming from almost everywhere, in the face of
the overwhelming evidence of the catastrophe. Nothing to do either, if we are to
believe this report, with the manifest complacency of successive governments
vis-à-vis those responsible for this disaster, nor with the macabre headlong rush
of the concrete industry or the agro-industry lobby. industrial.

Regardless of the calls for action signed and relayed by hundreds of
environmental organizations, civil society, farms, citizens' associations, local
groups in struggle, personalities from all walks of life, who have accompanied
the recent popular mobilizations against the grabbing of land, water resources,
or against the artificialization of soils. This thundering proliferation, which
nevertheless continues to grow, would only be a smokescreen protecting a handful
of radicalized activists, determined to drag down the whole "legitimate movement
for the preservation of the planet" in its fall.

movement in progress, isolate it and designate it as the infectious agent, from
which we must at all costs deviate at the risk of being crushed in turn. The

"eco-terrorism", this slippage badly hides the embarrassment of the strategists
of the maintenance of order, who, no longer knowing where to turn, are looking

We understand well in view of the recent feats of force carried out, among others
in its name, for the concrete defense of land and water, that "the Uprisings of
the Earth" is a clear culprit. This unprecedented movement of convergence between
peasants, urban youth, environmentalists and trade unionists has the merit of
having a name, a site, a Twitter account, regular public meetings and even,
according to the RT note, a bank account... A nice big nose in the middle of the
face which, it seems, is just waiting to be dissolved.

Only here, we who sign this forum, do not believe in this fable, and we know what
we are talking about. For having participated in certain demonstrations, for
having organized others, for having signed appeals, forums, hosted meetings,
participated in the logistics of such and such a camp, or in prohibited
demonstrations, for being also sometimes joyfully equipped with cutters, hammers
or secateurs for something other than tinkering, for having sometimes simply
smiled at the idea of their possible use... we know that there is no need for a
central committee, or a circle of seasoned strategists .e.s, to recognize both
the absolute urgency of the situation and the criminal wait-and-see attitude of
those who have the power to stop the machine.  We also know that we are not
afraid of these people dressed in protective whites or overalls that we are now
shown on TV, after years of government deafness to environmental struggles. We
cannot, moreover, give them the wrong when we hear them affirm that their
"disarmament" actions are an essential element of any consistent strategy to
curb, curb, stop projects that cement the ground, monopolize the land or poison
the rivers. Better than that, we would sometimes like to be, if we had the
opportunity or if our functions, our health or our family situations did not
require us elsewhere. Because their gestures, their precision, their joyful
determination, speak to us infinitely more than the grimaces of the Minister of
the Interior when he sheds crocodile tears on the broken barriers of a
construction site, on the temporary shutdown of a highly polluting industrial
site, or on the economic damage suffered by such and such an ecocidal
multinational company.

We are already seeing summonses, indictments, beatings, trials raining down on
activists from Bassines Non Merci, the Confédération Paysanne or the Uprisings of
the Earth, on demonstrators whom we have sometimes come to seek on their hospital
bed, to take them into custody. The first trials in the fight against bedpans,
the one that took place on November 28, and those that are being held on January
5 and 6, 2023 in La Rochelle and Niort, are exemplary in this respect. The
investigation files, which can go up to 1,500 pages, testify to the surveillance,
in particular by telephone, of hundreds of people. Added to this are spinning
mills, video surveillance devices hidden in front of the houses of activists,
dozens of police custody and around fifty free hearings. And we see coming, since
we are told even in the pages of the newspaper, that the simple participation in
these demonstrations, in these meetings, in these gatherings, will soon be not
only illegal but reprehensible. These gestures and what they call transformations
are nevertheless moments that outline a possible future.

So from all the places where we find ourselves, we are preparing to show
solidarity, to say that we too are part of it, even if it is only in thought. And
that those who see the shadow of repression clouding their part of the sky will
not be alone, because we are already there....
