[UCL Brief No. 2]If we compare it to the social movements of 1995, 2003, 2010,
2019... the situation is unprecedented and paradoxical. We have a united tradeunion front to say "no", a mass movement that is anchored in the long term butstruggles to organize, to act and to fight. How to move up a gear so as not towaste this potential? ---- The current movement against the reform isunprecedented in its popularity and its ability to repeatedly put a lot of peoplein the street: January 19, January 31, February 7 and 11, February 16, 2023. Therelative failure of the February 16 was expected, because the announcement of alarge mobilization - perhaps renewable - on March 7 de facto sacrificed thisdate, especially in the sectors decided to enter the fight permanently in March:"why burn a cartridge now? if we go there from the 7th?»Calls for renewal... against the backdrop of skinny AGsWe have often been surprised at our own numbers. Despite government manipulation, the battle of ideas has been won by our social camp: (almost) nobody wants thisreform. This opposition is broad, diverse in its sociology and geographicallocation (large cities but even more small and medium-sized). Isolated peoplefrom trade union deserts have mobilized, sometimes for the first time. The negative point is that the self-organization at the base is more thanreduced, much lower than several past social movements, however less massive. Forthe time being, the AGs of strikers are little or not attended, which limits thecapacities to organize the strike... while the calls of the CGT and Solidaires togeneralize the strike, to discuss the extension in AG are clear and that theinter-union declaration of February 11 is unprecedented in the points of supportit gives to "harden the movement by bringing France to a halt in all sectors onMarch 7 next" and continuing on March 8.This movement presents itself as a disorganized mass that has not yet managed toreally enter into a struggle.Paris, January 19, 2023Photo: Daniel MaunourySay it everywhere, all the time: we can win we must winThe elements mentioned above show that we have real potential to win. You have toconvince everyone of that. Unless the situation overflows and the slogans changein nature, union unity holds, and there has still been no betrayal of the unionscommitted to the ideology of "social dialogue". This is a first in more thanthirty years! The management of the CFDT seems really bound by its congressionaldecision and the government's intransigence leaves it no way out. It's a real asset. But to win, we must absolutely move from this vast movement of street opinion toa struggle and a strike of confrontation with power. Medef will whistle the endof recess and ask Macron to withdraw his project if strikes and social disorderdisrupt the economy too much. Let us not hesitate to remind the cautious thatfascism feeds on social regression and that today's efforts to win are essentialto block its way.If this lock gives way and we gain confidence, the force of the movement will beenormous. During a renewable strike, we will thus be able to intensify massdemonstrations and punch actions (electricity cut, blocking actions, etc.).Larger sections of the population will thus be able to join the fight. Inparticular the deprived of jobs and the youth who, facing repression inuniversities and high schools, are struggling to get into the dance. Thecontinuation of the movement will depend on the reaction of employers and ourself-organization.Everyone has to go on March 7 and 8 and...This is the message we need to get across, because the strikers and protesters ofthe previous dates have "turned". We must, on March 7, all go out together andinvolve our colleagues as much as possible in the renewable, by organizing GAsand by multiplying the initiatives upstream (tours, diff of leaflets etc.). Wecan rely on the announcements of different sectors ready to do battle and pass onthis information: call for the renewal of Solidaires from the 7th, same thing forthe inter-union RATP, as well as the CGT for transport and garbage collectors. We must put this news forward to feed the generalization of the strike and not tofall into the trap of the "proxy strike", it would be the sure failure. The inter-union calls on staff to mobilize on March 8, the international day ofstruggle for women's rights. This can give a point of support to renew and allowus to consolidate the question of the feminist strike.Paris, February 7, 2023Photo: Daniel MaunouryThe watchwordsWe must put forward the unifying demand for the withdrawal of the reform ("64years is no!") more than the demands which can go further, and which we are rightto disseminate, but which cannot have any reality if we don't win on this simpleobjective. On the other hand, to generalize the strike, in particular in the private sector, let us not hesitate to associate the defense of pensions with unsatisfieddemands, such as working conditions, wages eaten away by inflation, or even thedefense of unemployment insurance. At the level of ideas, let us make the link whenever it is relevant between thestruggles (feminism, ecology, Darmanin law etc.), let us push without dogmatismand without being above ground to the collective logics which break with thecapitalist ideology. The intervention of the libertarian communistsTheir role is twofold. On the one hand, they must be fully active and active in their unions and otherassociative counter-powers to convince their colleagues, organize the strike andits renewal, be force of proposals, shake up the union purr where it exists. Itis a question of favoring the broadest self-organization, and of aggregatingbeyond the convinced militant cores. In the localities where the renewable strikedoes not take, it will be necessary to be creative and to suggest lasting, repeated actions, of collective blocking of the zones of economic activity. On the other hand, you have to be audible as a libertarian communist current.Because if the strike spreads and lasts, more global challenges to the capitalistmodel of society can quickly emerge and deepen. It's about being present toconvince that a future without the state, without employers, without dominationcan be built today!https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Pour-gagner-passer-du-mouvement-d-opinion-a-la-greve-de-confrontation_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
