that started one of the darkest moments in recent years. Last February 24,
Putin's Russia launched a military invasion of Ukraine. The modern tsar's goal
was nothing more than to occupy this country within three days and "de-Ukrainize"
it according to a genocidal scenario that has nothing to do with the plans of
Nazi Germany. In his propaganda vocabulary, the terms "denazification" and
"demilitarization" should have corresponded to this. In practice, it was supposed
to be a general purge of the entire resisting population and the Russification of
those willing to submit to the occupation's dictates.

But somehow the anointed heads in the Kremlin did not count on the fact that the
people of Ukraine would defy their imperial appetites, and the blessing of the
tanks from the head of the Orthodox Church in Russia, Patriarch Kirill, did not
help them. In truth, even the Western states, which like to call themselves
democratic, did not count on such a wave of popular resistance. If Ukraine didn't
fight back, they would probably just condemn the invasion and impose some
sanctions. Putin would probably get away with it again, as in the case of the
annexation of Crimea, or during his murderous engagement in Syria. The main thing
would be that mutual trade with natural gas and oil should not be affected.

But thanks to the tenacity and determination of Ukrainian men and women to resist
the onslaught of the "goblin army from Mordor", everything is different. So Putin
decided on a scorched earth tactic - bombing civilian infrastructure and
residential buildings, killing civilians, rape and torture became the tactics of
his military machine, which, although it squeaks, crushes human lives just by its
weight. Another tactic is the reckless sacrifice of one's own pawns, whose lives
mean nothing to the Kremlin papals and who continue to follow (and are not afraid
to say it openly) the good old Stalinist slogan "we are many".

It is great that there was a huge wave of solidarity in our country immediately
after the invasion began. Initiatives organized from below immediately began to
help refugees, while the Minister of the Interior was more concerned that people
of a different color than his own did not reach us from Ukraine. Some even joined
in helping the defenders of Ukraine. Anarchists also did so with the support of
their Ukrainian friends who decided to oppose the armed importation of Putin's
Z-fascism. They were flanked by anarchist émigrés from Russia and Belarus, for
whom the defeat of Putin's invasion is a promise to end the dictatorship in their
countries.

The invasion of Ukraine did not happen out of a sudden shift in Putin's mind. He
had been preparing the ground for many years before - from influencing the
elections in the USA in favor of his fan Trump or the referendum on Brexit in
favor of weakening the EU, through building Germany's dependence on Russian gas,
to the explosions of ammunition warehouses in Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. In
Syria, he tested weapons and military terror against the civilian population
without any consequences, while in Russia itself he eliminated signs of
opposition and gave the green light to the genocidal ideology of the
non-existence of the Ukrainian nation.

Long before the invasion, he sponsored ultra-right parties in Europe - in France,
Germany, Austria... His propagandists always joked that while the Western
ultra-right had to pay, the ultra-left usually acted for free in the interests of
Russia. It is therefore not surprising that people from both authoritarian camps
immediately joined the so-called tankies, supporting Putin and his narrative of
anti-fascist special operations in Ukraine. At the same time, if anyone today
represents fascism in its most disgusting form, it is him. A tragic case in the
West are groups that call themselves anti-imperialist, but in reality are nothing
more than staunch opponents of NATO, without taking into account that the
imperialist aggressor in this conflict is the Russian regime, and they follow the
devious principle of "the enemy of my the enemy is my friend" and thus ends with
the support of Russian imperialism.

However, racist (another popular term for Putin's fascism) tentacles did not
disappear from Europe. Their goal is to support forces calling for an end to aid
to Ukraine. Probably the most popular argument is that we have to think of our
own people first, and therefore helping others is unacceptable. It is a popular
rhetorical tool of the anti-solidarity ideology, which recently manifested
itself, for example, in fighting against refugees.

Another or parallel type of Putin's fifth column are the so-called peacemakers
who argue that it is necessary to act and ensure peace immediately. In practice,
this means a demand for the surrender of the Ukrainian side, not a ceasefire. And
the fact that these would-be peacemakers rhetorically protect themselves by
condemning the invasion does not change anything.

It is necessary to persevere on the side of ordinary people who resist the
Z-fascist occupiers in Ukraine. At the same time, it is also necessary to stand
up to Putin's fifth column and reject all kinds of support for aggression,
totalitarianism and genocide.
