A vulgate much loved by the media permanently enrolled in the service of
the clerical-fascist government states that "the Italians have chosenthe right". The right wind, therefore, would be an objective fact, notonly in Italy. ---- In commenting on the electoral results that broughtMeloni to the government, we focused on two aspects: the first was thestrong abstentionism, which reduced the extent of the right's victory tolittle, and did not authorize us to speak of an Italy shifted to theright; the second: the road for right-wing policies in the economic, political, military and social fields had been paved for some time byprevious governments, including technical ones, and therefore thevictors had enjoyed an exceptional boost; now they would have donenothing but close the circle, adding their "personal" touch in terms ofrepression, racist harassment, justicialism towards the poor andopponents and guarantees towards the powerful. All things that we areregularly recording.Abstentionism is one of the elements that is really affecting Italianpolitics, even more so if it punishes left-wing parties and thathalf-aborted experiment of the 5 Star Movement. An abstention that wascertainly aware of the homogenization of political forces and motivatedby very simple observations: the devaluation of wages and pensions, theprecariousness of work and life, growing poverty, the blatant attitudetowards favoring the rich, the marked tendency towards militarism withthe increase in missions, military spending, interventionism in Ukraineand elsewhere, the prevailing racism not only towards non-whites, buttowards all types of social minorities: the disabled, the elderly (lessand less a minority), homosexual couples, the world LGBTQIA+, etc.The lie about Italians who voted on the right is useful to allpoliticians. Therefore, if a right-wing wind blows from the institutions(and when has it ever been otherwise?), there is certainly also acounter-wind, but it would be wrong to define it as left-wing, given howunrealistic the difference between the two terms linked to parliamentarymystification has become . A bracing that starts from the bottom, madeup of thousands of people engaged in social activities without a doublepurpose or a project of power; people who voluntarily anddisinterestedly give life to initiatives of support, mutual aid, hospitality, resistance, enduring the victims of the capitalist meatgrinder.A few weeks ago the friends of Salvini, Meloni and the late Berlusconiperched on the Messina side of the Strait, defined the 5,000demonstrators against the bridge as cavemen, trying to discriminatebetween modernity (the bridge as a symbol of progress and its ravenoussupporters) and backwardness (the opponents) . Contesting the ideologyof development, the cavemen, in which we recognize ourselves, areinstead drawing an insurmountable line of demarcation betweendestructive capital and the populations chosen as sacrificial victims ofits mad enterprises to ensure ever more profits. To remain in Sicily, the NO MUOS movement, which arose quietly in 2008and consolidated starting from 2012, represents for longevity andresilience, the most important stimulus to militarist policies not onlyItalian, but international and imperialist which are based on theisland. For years, it has placed the centrality of war as the strategicaxis on which the policies of capital unravel; for a long time thisposition has been snubbed, underestimated, misled; today few would dareto deny the centrality of war and militarism, even those who deal withseemingly unrelated issues, such as trade unionism, feminism, education, health. The movement's approach also with respect to the conflict inUkraine was to denounce Italy's role as a belligerent and Sicily'sinvolvement, and to identify in the fight against the presence ofNATO-American bases our way of fighting against the war (not to sidewith Putin). The contribution of the NO MUOS movement has always beencharacterized by a non-hegemonic will and by the need to build a broadfront against war, without supporting political projects of any kind. The recent mobilizations in the internal areas of Sicily against therange for military exercises of the Aosta Mechanized Brigade, which ledto a first important result with the refusal of the municipalities ofSperlinga, Nicosia and Gangi to cede their territories to the army(partial result, because the army can impose its decision if it does notfind the "voluntary" support of the municipalities), they show us howunder the apparent calm, sheltered from the presumed right-wing wind, the flame of revolt and dignity always lurks. A flame which, in otherrespects, burns in several territories, from the Nebrodi to thecontaminated and damaged places of the industrial poles, and whichanimates only apparently local mobilizations, for public water, for amore efficient and widespread health system in the area, against thedifferentiated autonomy, yet another colonial blow against Sicily andthe South. Struggles which, moreover, take place in many Italianlocalities, albeit with the spotlight off by the regime's media. And if we look at Sardinia, and its struggles against the endlessmilitary servitude, against the NATO bases, the impacting radars, thearmaments factories; either we turn our gaze to Tuscany, with the NoBase movement, its campsites, its assemblies and mobilizations, or toFriuli, with the return of the demonstrations in Aviano and the reportsof military servitude on the border, we realize the great potential thatstirs in real society. And that has continued to agitate for decades, asin Val Susa, where, beyond the words of the government, the TAV isbogged down. The recent demonstration in Maurienne, with the charges ofthe French police and the ban on Italian buses from crossing the border, seems to us the clearest indication of how much resistance to capitaland its mad projects can be stronger than repression (dozens of comradesNO TAV in prison or subjected to restrictive measures of their freedom)and paid journalistic mystification. In the veins of the communities, from Val Susa to Sicily, runs ayearning for rebellion, sometimes instinctive, others reasoned andconscious, others still latent, capable of blocking the projects of thepowerful. The actions of the most radical environmentalist world slam theirreparable drift of the earth and of all its living beings into whichthe voracity of capital drags us in the face of governments and druggedpublic opinion. Branded as criminals, activists are isolated anddenounced to reduce to silence a practice that tends to become widespread.Even in Romagna they tried to cancel the thousands of girls and boys(and not only) who came to help after the flood, even before the stateapparatuses moved; the solidarity that a system that speaks of merit andinculcates consumerist individualism would like to cancel or delegate tothe Church emerges as a form of bottom-up reappropriation ofrelationships and self-determination of lives. Transfeminism, prides, especially those tired of being controlled by the institutions, sectorsof the world of work that do not give up on defeat, are the most alivethat society can express today, the counter wind that will end upremoving the stench of death from candies. Provided you know how tounite, contaminate, embrace, respect, endow with common goals becausethe enemies are common. Forever.https://www.sicilialibertaria.it/_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
