Early on June 24, Vladimir Putin addressed Russia about the ongoing rebellion of
the private military company Wagner, saying that Yevgeny Prigozhin's rebellionis "pushing the country towards anarchy and fratricide." ---- This is a misuse ofwords. Fratricide has long been the norm under Putin. Torturing and killingdissidents was fratricide. The invasion of Ukraine was fratricide. Both theWagner company and the Russian military have made fratricide a profession.Anarchy is the opposite of fratricide: it is the state of affairs when people donot compete to rule each other. Totalitarianism always leads to bloody powerstruggles.Looking at the situation in Russia, one cannot help but think of the civil warthat broke out in Sudan between the military and the Rapid Support Forceearlier this year. Trying to suppress powerful social movements for liberation, the government armed the Rapid Support Forces mercenaries, only to end upfighting with them for control of the country. This kind of widespread violence is the inevitable end result of militarization. As governments and corporations increasingly rely on brute force to quell socialunrest, pouring more and more resources into police and private security, theycreate the conditions for horrific civil wars on an ever-larger scale. The civilconflicts prevailing today in Sudan and visible in Russia may well break outelsewhere tomorrow if we do not succeed in changing the course of our society ona global scale[1].Here, we hastily translated three announcements from Russian anarchist groups. All of them, necessarily, are groups that operate "underground". The first isbased in Siberia - the second is the Anarcho-Communist Fighting Organization, which we interviewed last year - and the third is the publishing collective ofAvtonom , arguably Russia's most important surviving anarchist publishing platform.Since the following announcements appeared, Prigozhin has announced that hisforces bound for Moscow have turned back, following negotiations with thegovernor of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko. Prigozhin may have bitten off morethan he can chew, but so did Putin in Ukraine - otherwise he wouldn't have neededPrigozhin in the first place. It remains to be seen how this crisis in Russia will play out in the long run. InTurkey, a failed coup attempt in 2016 allowed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan toconsolidate power, but any sign of weakness and disunity can only endanger Putin. The unstable and unpredictable situation predicted by our comrades in Russia isprobably still ahead. It will be for the best if the opposing forces in it arenot two rival totalitarian despots, or at least not only them.Irkutsk Anarchist Movementhttps://hide.espiv.net/?https://t.me/anhoirk/2927In the current situation surrounding the Wagner rebellion, there is no side wecan choose but ourselves. The same can be said for the majority of the population - neither the Putinregime nor those who compete with him for power will act in the interests of allthe people of Russia. For now, we can prepare for a variety of possible outcomes. We cannot rule outthe possibility of creating people's self-defense groups, whose main task in ascenario of civil war inside the country could be to organize the security of thepeople, as well as logistical networking for the provision of food and basicgoods . No one should be completely defenseless against mercenary militaryformations and the Russian military, and one of the main weapons we all have atour disposal is solidarity and mutual aid .At the same time, we should think about what we will do if the current statepower collapses in the city of Irkutsk or in the entire Irkutsk region. We support the organization of open people's councils, assemblies and forums onall the most important issues of public life, such as the economy, supply, natureprotection, human rights, self-defense, education and city services. In all thesestructures, we would like to see independent commissions of women and indigenouspeoples[2].In the meantime, we are monitoring the development of the situation. Putin isalready speaking on TV, saying that he fears the destruction of the state systemand the beginning of "anarchy"! As anarchists, we can say that the dictatorrightly fears Anarchy: after all, this implies that his power and the idea of the"Russian world" will cease to exist and that, instead, society will begin tofunction according to its principles self-government, decentralization andfederalism. We believe that Anarchy is still a long way from this country. But we are notpowerless in the present situation - we can prepare for anything that may happenand watch carefully to see if there will be a moment that will be favorable forall those here who yearn for freedom, tired of the Putin regime. We would likeeveryone who is thinking this to think about what they would do in thissituation, and work with others they can trust and rely on.This is the least and most basic thing that can be done right now.Anarcho-Communist Fighting Organizationhttps://hide.espiv.net/?https://t.me/BO_AK_reborn/2416We have indeed passed into a new phase of this turning point in history. It hadlong been clear that those at the top of the power structure would soon begingnawing at each other - it was only a matter of time. Now the main task of the anarchist and liberation movements both in Russia andabroad is to consolidate the available forces, acquire what is needed, analyzethe moment, establish broken communication channels and be ready to act.We do not flatter ourselves: the onset of this moment may take some time. Fromthe revolution of February (in which the generals participated in the removal ofthe Tsar) to the revolution of October, nine months passed. From the Kornilovuprising to October, two months. But one thing is clear. First, the moment of direct armed conflict is closer thanever. Second, neither the Putin regime nor Prigozinsky are our friends. In thisbattle between two cannibals, the anarchists must stay away - let's let themslaughter each other as much as possible. That way, they won't be able to botherpeople in the future. But this period of waiting for the right moment should pass in our favor. And allthe time, in every moment - prepare and increase your readiness to act - but alsoanalyze the situation every moment, be ready to start acting, leaving everythingbehind, even if the readiness is insufficient . Because even worse than startingearly, rushing to catch the moment, is sleeping when you could be turning historyin the right direction. Also, we would like to say something about the issue of calls for an attack onenlistment and enlistment offices and other government buildings at this time.We strongly disagree with this call. At this moment, the enemy is preparing torepel an attack - not by insurgents, but by insurgents with guns. Attacking suchobjects at this time is a waste of your resources, essentially attacking theenemy's fortified fortresses with your bare hands.Guerrilla must strike where the empire is vulnerable, not where the armor is. Tostrike where the enemy is not expecting. Therefore, at this time, it is possibleto attack objects far from cities. Has the enemy gathered forces all together fordefense? This means that it has exposed the distant borders and access roads.Attack gas and oil pipelines, attack railroads that lead to (but away from)military installations, attack power lines and water pipes that supply police andmilitary bases. But not the objects themselves, where the enemy is waiting.Or, if the risk is too great - spend this time preparing for an armed uprising.A live and combat-ready insurgent who can take part in future conflicts is now ahundred times more important than a insurgent who threw an improvised explosivedevice at a policeman and was dropped dead by a stressed-out policeman. And don't forget the status of counter-terrorist operations[3].Even if you decide not to attack a policeman, but a power line 5 kilometers away, the risks of being arrested on the road under the CTO (counter-terroristoperations) regime increase manifold. Evaluate wisely and don't take unnecessaryrisks.Avtonom / Autonomous actionhttps://hide.espiv.net/?https://avtonom.org/news/samoorganizuytes-poka-oni-derutsyaNow, as this announcement is published, we cannot yet fully predict thedevelopment of events surrounding the "Wagner Rebellion" in a relativelylong-term perspective. But we can certainly expect two seemingly opposite trends:first, increased repression against ordinary citizens, not only by state securityforces, and second, at the same time, an increase in chaos, when warring sidesleave people to deal with the problems they themselves they created.Of course, Prigozhin is no better than Putin: now some fascists are fightingagainst others. Every authoritarian power eventually creates bloody conflicts .In such a situation, the demand for self-organization, the creation andstrengthening of grassroots social ties, and mutual aid will spread. People willcreate new initiatives, new movements. The task of anarchists is to make everyeffort to help create and participate in grassroots structures, creating newassociations and enhancing interaction between existing ones.We have already written that there is no "our side" in the conflict between"Wagnerian" and "official" state structures. In the ongoing conflict, all of themare only pursuing their own interests and will only defend themselves. It is bestfor all other people not to risk themselves in another's struggle and, ifpossible, to stay away from the points of conflict. But if we want to create an alternative to bothof these monsters, then we must learn to come together to solve our problems, support the struggle to end war and oppression, defend ourselves from violence, and we defend our interests and rights. Only in this way will we be able to takepart in building a new society that will replace the bankrupt regime and thecriminal gangs it has nurtured. We stand in solidarity with our comrades from Irkutsk who write:Putin is already speaking on TV, saying that he fears the destruction of thestate system and the beginning of "anarchy"! As anarchists, we can say that thedictator is rightly afraid of anarchy: after all, this implies that his power andthe idea of the "Russian world" will cease to exist and that, instead, societywill begin to function according to its principles self-government,decentralization and federalism.Where state control of society and repression will weaken, anarchists should usethe opportunities that open up to spread anarchist ideas in both word and deed. Now, comes the news of the riots in the prison colonies and detention centers. Wemust push for the release of political prisoners and other victims of arbitrarypower.Regardless of how the uprising unfolding at the moment ends, a new life must growfrom below, from the demands of the broadest sections of society. To make thispossible, we all need structures of self-governance and self-organization. Unite.[1]In retrospect, the events of January 6, 2021 in Washington D.C. may give usthe slightest taste of what a conflict between far-right police and militaryagainst the United States government might look like.[2]The region known as Irkutsk is located in southeastern Siberia and is home toseveral indigenous peoples. The history of the colonization of Siberia roughlyparallels the timeline and events of the colonization of so-called America.[3]In Moscow, Moscow Oblast and Voronezh Oblast, the government introduced ananti-terrorist operation regime on 24 June in response to the mutiny of YevgenyPrigozhin and the Wagner Company.https://anarchism.espivblogs.net/2023/06/26/rosoi-anarchikoi-gia-tin-antarsia-toy-vagkner-anakoinoseis-apo-treis-anarchikes-organoseis/_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
