The German company "Rheinmetall", a leading German company in the production of
weapons and war materials, will open an armored vehicle plant in western Ukrainewithin the next 12 weeks. Since the beginning of this 2023, the German arms andwar vehicles company had declared to the newspaper "Rheinische Post" that itwanted to open a 200 million euro tank factory on Ukrainian territory - theproduction of which should be around 400 tanks per year. The CEO of "Rheinmetall"Armin Papperger, in an interview with CNN, declares that: "[Ukrainians]have tohelp themselves. If they always have to wait[for]the Europeans or the Americansto help[them]in the next 10 or 20 years... well that won't be possible."The future plant of armored vehicles on Ukrainian territory will be managedtogether with "Ukroboronprom", a public company controlled by the Zelenskygovernment and which brings together various national companies operating in thedefense industry."At the moment," Papperger declares again in the interview with CNN, "there aremany factories that produce military goods[in Ukraine]. This is just another one- and we can protect it[from Russian attacks]."Last week Germany said it would spend 2% of its gross domestic product on defensestarting in 2024, in line with the target set by NATO for all member states. Toprotect itself from any external attack, Papperger says that at a minimum NATOshould increase the target to 3% of GDP, adding that Europe would not be ready todefend itself adequately in an armed conflict with Russia: "the continent mustinvest more and we need a few years to replenish stocks[of ammunition]because, atthe moment, stocks are empty."Again as Papperger said, the arms company plans to conclude an agreement with theGerman government on the production and sale of ammunition worth billions ofeuros; a part of this material will be sent to Ukraine.The presence in Ukraine of a war industry that had a turnover of 6.4 billioneuros in 2022 1 (with an increase of 13% compared to 2021), shows how theUkrainian government is short of war material and, at the same time, seeks toattract foreign investors - despite the territory being completely devastated byRussian bombs.Such a state of affairs is a godsend for the Western manufacturing and financialbourgeoisie: they will be able to produce and supply weapons to the Armed Forcesof Ukraine and increasingly tighten the noose of loans through the InternationalMonetary Fund and the World Bank.The future colonization and partition of a post-war Ukraine is good and served.Note1 Annual Report 2022, p. 252.
