The recent publication by Jacinto Cerdá - History Professor and Master
in Historical Research - seeks to delve into the life of the ArgentineRegional Workers' Federation, specifically the Buenos Aires Local of the1930s. Without dwelling on the historical events of the general contextof those years , the author throughout 4 chapters is dedicated tounraveling the influence, campaigns and repression that he had to facethe federation and its militants. ---- Cerdá dedicates himself at firstto contextualize the different anarchist organizations that weredeveloping at that time, as well as their differences with the Workers'Federation. Within the latter, he briefly analyzes the organizationsthat maintained their continuity and activism throughout the decade,their internal discussions and the continuity of debates that had beentaking place since the 1920s. He briefly details the differentstrategies they adopted, and if they were effective or not, to be ableto develop union activity in a context of changes and a growingacceptance of the State's participation in labor relations.Although the entire content of the investigation is of innovation, thepoint of analysis on the repressive activity on the forista movement bythe State, is a point of analysis little taken by the historical studywithin the selected period. He is dedicated to fine-tuning repressivemethods, both those that were already being carried out by theauthorities, as well as the most innovative ones. He demonstrating to usthrough the analysis of documentation, the already known deportations,imprisonments, executions, closure of premises, such as the harassmentof union activity and the judicial processes of the period.Lastly, and without wishing to reveal too much now the content of theinvestigation, he dwells on the different campaigns carried out by theBuenos Aires Local Workers' Federation, its content and its scope withinits field of influence. Also the positions that he knew how to takebefore the events of the time. He is also dedicated to the analysis ofthe relationship between the FOLB and the growing influence of the Statein capital-labour relations. Here he takes as an example, one of theunions attached to the federation and the same one attached to the CGTanalyzes their strategies of struggle, their effects and the differentpositions of both towards the then National Department of Labor (DNT).Easy to read and innovative analysis of the research, allows us to seehow the federation developed throughout the "infamous decade", as wellas the different consequences that its strategies and positions had.
