In the Rhône, the movement has allowed positive changes between red or
pink chasubles and black Kway. The eternal debate between radicalizationand massification has found a singular expression there. ---- Since2016, the head procession has been a recurring element in massmobilizations. The involvement of UCL Lyon activists in the securityservice of the various unions (Solidaires, CGT and CNT) allowed us toobserve the relationship between the leading party and the union SO.Contrary to some fantasies, the leading procession is not only made upof autonomous people. We can see young people, sometimes unionizedemployees, families, retirees, a brass band... In short, it is aheterogeneous body, both in its composition and in its motivations:everyone does not don't go there for the mayhem. Some participants seeit as a "normal" procession, others come for its energy, still othersnot to parade under a union banner in which they do not recognizethemselves. From the start of the movement in Lyon, the inter-union setup a line of SOs in front of the leading banner, in order to give itvisibility and ensure the progress of the demonstration. But it oftenwent against the autonomous strategy. It took the coordinators of thehead SO a lot of pedagogy to move from invective to dialogue between thetwo entities. The involvement of libertarian communists and thefeminization of the SO, by reducing virilism, are not for nothing. Thetensions between the two processions are due to the divergence ofobjectives. The autonomous wanted to occupy the street as long aspossible and break as many capitalist symbols as possible. Thecounterpart of this strategy is violence and consequent risk-taking, incontradiction with the massification of the movement. Theintersyndicale, for its part, aimed to hold the most massivedemonstrations possible, with a powerful and lasting strike, and to leadthem along the route negotiated (in fact, imposed) by the prefecture. The counterpart of this strategy is a certain weariness of the weeklydemonstration. As the movement progressed, relations subsided, shiftingto a distant respect. Repression has a lot to do with it. When thepolice unleashed their violence on the leading procession, theinter-union SO line positioned itself at the forefront, so as to allowthe protection of all. This attitude was very much appreciated by theleading procession, so much so that, during moments of really harshrepression, the two processions became one. In Lyon, during thismovement, we faced side by side the contempt of the state and its policeviolence. The union demonstrators understood the desire of the leadingmotorcade to express their anger. Strategic differences remain, butbridges have been built between trade unionists and the procession ofleaders. For us, libertarian trade unionists, it is a precious heritagethat we will have to remobilize in the future to win the next battles.Myriam (UCL Lyon)https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?a-Lyon-ca-bouge-de-part-et-d-autre_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
