WORLD WORLDWIDE FRANCE News Journal Update - (en) France, UCL AL #340 - Ecology, Zad everywhere: "Sticks in the roads", a friendly and victorious weekend (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

The festival Sticks in the roads, organized by the collective Non à

l'autoroute A133-A134, supported in particular by the Uprising of theEarth took place from the beginning of May in Léry in the Eure, againstthe project of expressway to bypass Rouen to the east. ---- At thebeginning of May, was organized by a host of associations, unions andorganizations, the festival of sticks in the roads. Its goal: to opposethe A133-A134 motorway project. It is for its promoters to create anexpressway bypassing Rouen from the east. ---- During this weekend, massnaturalist actions were organized to create habitats to accommodateprotected species where the construction site is to start, blocking anddetermined actions. This project is : a toll motorway between 4 and 5 EUR of 41.5 km ; aroad that will not relieve traffic congestion in Rouen and will allowmore trucks to circulate and therefore huge logistics warehouses toprosper, putting even more trucks on the roads and therefore morepollution; 8 viaducts, 9 interchanges and a cost of more than onebillion euros ; a massive artificialization of agricultural and forestland, including the Bord forest, known as the "old forest" according toState doctrine, mapped in the 18th century and deemed "irreplaceable"and "incompensable" (516 hectares concreted, the razed forest, farmersand expropriated farmers...) ; a major risk for drinking water resources; massive damage to biodiversity and a lack of transparency, informationand consultation.Hundreds of hectares of concreteIn order to alert, inform and resist this vile project, a family anddetermined festival took place in early May with several highlights. Wewere between 2,000 and 4,000 participants during the weekend, includingseveral dozen from UCL from different local groups (Caen, Orne, LeHavre, Rouen, Nantes).Friday May 5, a fanfare opening at 6 p.m. with round tables, concertsand a screening of the documentary by Mickael Damperon, Des pebbles inthe shoe.Saturday, May 6, the day begins at 10 a.m. with a round table withAlessandro Pignocchi and the Land Naturalists. After a good meal, weleft at the beginning of the afternoon in the woods for a great activeand naturalistic walk, not forgetting to take our flags of course, todiscover the fauna and flora of the forest. (long-tailed tit, eaglefern, nuthatch, buttercup, etc.). During this afternoon, four groups aremade up, all bearing the names of species threatened by this shamefulproject: greater capricorn, spotted woodpecker, crested newt, dormouse.Several actions are carried out such as the installation of nestingboxes for the dormice, the creation of ponds for the crested newts andthe salamanders, nails and markings on certain trees to prevent theirfelling and exploitation and protect the capricorns or connect the treesbetween them so that they cannot be slaughtered.Nesting boxes, ponds and especially the collectiveIn the late afternoon, return to camp. Conferences are then organized, including one led by Fatima Ouassak on pirate ecology and popularecology. On the UCL Caen side, everyone goes to a stand or a meeting, inparticular the inter-collective meeting of the Uprisings of the Earthwhich brought together a dozen local collectives. From 8 p.m., it's timeto give way to music thanks to the groups that have come to play on site: special dedication to Tahigo and Joke for the slogans, the pogos andthe atmosphere. On Sunday May 7 in the morning, we set off again in the forest under abeautiful Norman rain, always with UCL very present. The purpose of thismorning is to install the first Zad for children which could be a firststep in a future occupation of the forest in the event of the start ofwork. This Junior Zad takes the form of a forest playground intended toreclaim the premises and where four lookouts are installed, brought bythe participants and which are inspired by the spotted woodpecker, thecrested newt, the muscardin and the greater capricorn. After a good picnic in the new Zad, we are invited to go for a walk inthe forest for a surprise action. Few comrades are aware of the finalgoal of this march, and yet despite the accumulated fatigue and thepromise of four hours of walking in the middle of a muddy path with aphysically demanding route, about 600 people follow the movement. Afteran hour of walking, we are asked to start collecting dead branches inthe forest which will be used for the action. Five to ten minutes beforearriving at the end of our journey, we learn that comrades are on theA13 and that they and they have blocked. We then understand that this isthe goal of the march and that we have succeeded ! From then on, no more leg pain, no more fatigue, a euphoria seizes theprocession, the final bouquet of the weekend is at hand. And here weare, we arrive on the highway, we understand why the festival is called" Sticks in the roads " and why we struggled with these branches. Whatan incredible feeling to find yourself in the middle of such a busyhighway and see it completely at a standstill.@NPAHighway routSlogans flare up like " We are all children of the forest ! or " We areall eco-terrorists ! ". Even the comrades present at Sainte-Soline havethis incredible and indescribable feeling of general euphoria. Ofcourse, the cops arrive quickly on the spot and we decide to turn backafter about thirty minutes, without going into confrontation, thisweekend is intended to be warm, friendly and family. But we succeeded inour coup, media, political and ecological. We all return to the camp being more annoyed by our leg pain than by thecops, but with the pride of having taken part in an action out of timeand of having highlighted the forest, the ecology, determination, joy, simply life. This incredible day ends with a conference by DavidGaborieau on work and logistics followed by new concerts. The weekendends on Monday, May 8 with a general assembly of struggle for the fewdozen people still present on the spot. This festival will have made it possible to show that the defense ofliving things, forests and biodiversity is an urgent and priority fightif we want to continue our struggles for self-management, solidarity, equality and freedom. We collectively lived a moment of unforgettable, intense, moving life, struggle and sharing, which will remain in ourmemories. We call for massive involvement in ecological struggles and inparticular the local committees of the Earth Uprisings.UCL Caenhttps://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Zad-partout-Des-batons-dans-les-routes-un-weekend-convivial-et-victorieux_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
