which has brought with it a impoverishment of living and working
conditions of English working men and women.
These are the profound reasons that have led, as we said, to a cycle of
very hard struggles starting from the spring of last year, accompanied
by the resignations of the governments of Johnson and May, unable to
face the new situation that has arisen. The current government of the
neo-Nazi Sumak is unable to cope with the situation and is desperately
trying to navigate a difficult balance between an increasingly crisis
state budget and an increasingly explosive social situation.

The great general strike of January 2023 and those that followed it
demonstrated that trade union organisations, despite extremely
restrictive and punitive legislation on strikes, are capable of putting
in place constant and radical struggle and mobilization initiatives,
capable of lasting time and to bring the bosses and government to their
knees also because the strikes of civil servants have been joined by
those of transport, education, health, logistics, ports, industry, in
short, all sectors of the economy and today the government is forced to
come to terms and to seek a difficult reconciliation between the needs
of the state budget and the wage demands of male and female workers.
The by-elections of these days have seen a disastrous defeat for the
Conservatives, and mark the harbingers of a possible revenge for Labour.
