A global repression is deployed against the movement of the Uprisings of
the Earth (SDLT) and the other components (see the editorial):
dissolution requested by the government, arrests-interrogations by the
anti-terrorism, preventive detentions or condemnations to the farm ,
trial to come... ---- The next initiative of the movement, a
tractor-bicycle caravan from Sainte-Soline to the headquarters of the
Water Agency in Orléans, from August 18 to 25, will be an indicator of
the mobilization and capacities of its 170 collectives and other
sympathizers. -es. ---- A MOVEMENT ON THE RISE ---- The Ste-Soline rally
on March 25 and 26, 2023 resulted in a very heavy toll of 200 injured,
some very serious but also a success digital (more than 20,000 people,
doubling the previous mobilization and nearly 40 tractors present
despite a re-banned demonstration and police roadblocks criss-crossing
the territory). The Minister of the Interior had spoken of
"eco-terrorists" and evoked the dissolution of the SDLT, to make people
forget the blockage by the cops of the arrival of help during the
clashes and the deluge of ammunition fired on the crowd.

He had taken it badly, since the surge of solidarity following this
announcement of dissolution had resulted in more than 100,000 signatures
of support for the SDLT, the appearance of more than 150 local
collectives, a publicized Parisian meeting with personalities recognized
claiming their proximity to SDLT and the publication of a multi-handed
book, countless articles and media broadcasts. The Minister's threat had
the opposite effect to that intended (1).
How to explain this positive echo in the population, yet after the
images of confrontation of Ste-Soline? Has the mood gone back to "yellow"?

The movement against the pension reform taking place simultaneously,
also coming up against a government "wall of refusal", also undergoing
police violence denied in a class dimension, the fight against the
mega-basins has thus acquired popularity. and unprecedented visibility;
an indication, the very positive reception by the crowds of
demonstrators of the readings of the health bulletins of the wounded of
Ste-Soline in many cities. 'as much as concern about the climate,
drought and fires, degradation and pollution of resources open a avenue
for whistleblowers and criticism of agribusiness, which no longer has
anything to do with peasants but rather with the world of mass
distribution and agri-food, banking and power.

RUN THE PROGRAM

The other initiatives of the SDLT, always in support of local collective
struggles, then successively targeted on April 22 the Castres-Toulouse
motorway project (8,000 people, cf CA 331), on June 11 in
Loire-Atlantique the opening / extension of 4 sand-rock quarries and
industrial market gardening (2000 people, see CA 312 for a description
of the fight), finally on June 17 (3000 people) the construction site of
the TAV Lyon-Turin tunnel in the valley of Maurienne.

According to Le Canard Enchaîné, it seems that the destruction of lily
of the valley and experimental lettuces on June 11 in the greenhouses of
the federation of Nantais market gardeners, south of the metropolis,
stung Macron, who would have intervened at the Council of Ministers the
following Wednesday. to personally revive the idea of dissolution. The
FNSEA, by the voice of its fighting president Arnaud Rousseau (a large
grain farmer of 700 ha who started out in the oilseed business at the
head of the Avril group, a pure product of agribusiness) threatened
civil war if the State was not doing its job of repression. Interesting
detail, the president of the Maraîchers Nantais, who cried in
Ouest-France for his poor torn salads, took up this job after having
worked for the hourglasses of Loire-Atlantique. The link between
quarries and industrial market gardening no longer needs to be demonstrated.

IT'S JUNE, GET YOUR DARMANIN OUT!

A first police raid launched on June 5 in the early morning in several
cities sent about fifteen people into police custody in the
investigation into the sabotage by 200 people of a Lafarge cement plant
near Marseille last December, disarmament action supported by SDLTs in a
press release. They are released a priori without prosecution.

On June 20, the SDAT (anti-terrorist sub-directorate of the PJ) arrests,
still in cowboy mode, for the action against the Lafarge cement factory,
another fifteen people in several cities, including some members of the
SDLT on the ZAD of Notre Dame des Landes. Coincidentally, the next day
the Council of Ministers pronounced the dissolution of the SDLT, which
immediately appealed to the Council of State to invalidate this measure
(one year delay...). Protest rallies against the dissolution and against
the roundup are organized in nearly 150 towns by the Friends of the SDLT
(ASDLT?). We can wonder if we will not witness a repetition of the
Tarnac affair, so many dumplings follow one another: on the 23rd, all
police custody is lifted!

During the roundup, the cops do not find the people they are supposed to
be watching: they break down the door of the wrong trailer, handcuff and
hood the occupant, kicking her in front of her kid before she can
explain . They arrest an elected ecologist who wears the same beard as a
suspect with a red cap present in Ste-Soline: fortunately he can prove
that he ate with his family while the cement factory was morfling and he
does not have a red cap at home: what is it about! (Duck of 06/28) But
the judge is not kidding. An activist from Bure, who refuses an
immediate appearance, is placed in preventive detention until his trial
at the end of July! And a Bordeaux GJ who did not hide from having
participated in the prohibited demonstration, goes to immediate
appearance and takes ten months!
On June 27, new summons to the Ste-Soline demonstration for several
people in different gendarmeries: 3 from the ZAD in three different
gendarmeries are transferred to Parthenay. The spokesperson for Bassines
Non Merci 79, the spokespersons for CONF 79, national CONF, departmental
secretaries Solidaires and CGT 79 are also summoned. In short, the cops
seem to be looking for potential faults between the co-signatory
collectives under pressure. A rally  e support for comrades brings
together 400 people in Nantes the same evening, and merges with the
demonstrators for Nahel, killed in Nanterre the day before by a cop. The
summoned came out at the end of the day, but the three ZAD SDLTs went on
trial on September 8 for organizing a prohibited demonstration, and one
of them also for participation. In short, there does not seem to be much
in the files but that would not prevent the judges from condemning and
keeping in the shade for a while...

A RELATIONSHIP OF FORCE THAT TIES

In Ste-Soline, the 3000 cops waited firmly for the demonstrators who
dared to defy the prefectural ban. Obviously that's not enough. With the
two police roundups in June and the trials to come, the police, who had
been interested in the SDLTs for at least a year, landed among the
opponents and sought to precede the actions by disorganizing the
collectives with arrests or pressure and other custody.

How will unions and political parties react? We can already get some
ideas... In Nantes, after the sabotage of the lily of the valley and
salad greenhouses, the press delighted in reporting the condemnations of
local right and left politicians (2) against the ecologists of EELV;
they admitted to having called against industrial market gardeners and
hourglasses but not having taken part in the action because they
disagreed and remained on the road. When you want to manage the system,
you must not insult the future, and the FNSEA counts... Another example
of double discourse is given by Piole, EELV mayor of Grenoble who signed
the petition "We are the Uprisings of the Earth" in support of SDLTs,
but carefully avoided protesting the expansion of the STMicro chip
production facility. This type of factory requires a phenomenal quantity
of very pure water to manufacture the most efficient microprocessors
(see the CA 331 "Greenly green" review). Piole is willing to "compose",
just to jump on the SDLT success train, but when it comes to the vital
issues of capitalism, realism is essential...

The constitution of 150 local collectives of the SDLT will perhaps make
it possible to structure autonomous regional groupings, distributed in a
decentralized way, operating transversally thanks to the number and in
support of local struggles, as mentioned in the report    of a regional
meeting near Limoges in the latest CA 331. This is probably the most
energy-efficient solution to consider initially, even if it will be
tricky to deploy; indeed the composition, exposed in the book "We do not
dissolve an uprising", is the result of a compromise which took time to
establish, like the trust that goes with it.

The tracto-vélo from August 18 to 25 will be an opportunity to create
links, but also to think collectively about the next mobilization
agendas in this perspective.

1) Three months later, the police raid by the SDAT (Anti-Terrorist
Sub-Directorate) on June 20 of about fifteen activists thus caused a
jump of 25,000 additional signatories of the online petition in support
of the SDLT . Unless it's a hoax, it's a capital of sympathy!... Even if
it's only a more elaborate "like" that doesn't commit  to much.
2) The pompom is won by the municipal elected official of the PC who
condemned the sabotage of the greenhouses in the name of the defense of
the work tool and the respect of the worker...
