On September 16, 2022, Jina (Mahsa) Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman,
was assassinated by the dictatorship of the mullahs in Iran. She did notsurvive the brutality of her arrest on the 13th by the morality police,who deemed her wearing her Islamic hijab insufficient. ---- Thisassassination then triggered a wave of protests lasting more than 120days in Iran. The slogan "Woman Life Freedom" is chanted in alllanguages spoken in Iran. The response of the Islamic regime is stillbloody repression: more than 600 deaths in the streets, many of themwomen (let's mention Hadis Najafi, Nika Shakarami, Ghazaleh Chalabi) and20,000 arrests. At least 6 political prisoners, arrested during themovement, were executed.Iranian women have always resisted the criminal laws, dictated byreligion, that patriarchal power, state in the public sphere and familyin the private sphere, imposes on them like so many dogmas. There aremany political prisoners, such as Zeynab Jalalian, sentenced to lifeimprisonment, in prison for 16 years, and Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee,already sentenced to 5 years in prison for having campaigned against thestoning and death penalty (15 women hanged by approximately year),arrested on September 26, 2022 for his participation in the days of revolt.After the street demonstrations, the revolutionary struggle continues inother forms, the repression also continues: thus preventive arrests inthe militant environment are ordered, 12 for the single day of August 16in cities in the north of the country, 11 of which concern women. Amongthem, Jelveh Javaheri and Forough Saminia suffer from osteoarthritis anddiabetes but the prison regime does not allow access to medication andurgent care.The country is recording other social struggles: rallies for pensions,protests at the Tabas coal mine site and in the health sector (mainlyfemale staff) in Isfahan, strikes by Machine Sazi workers in Arak, etc. .Four long decades under the rule of a theocratic state have worsened thesocial, economic, political and cultural problems in Iran to such anextent that a revolution has become the only possible path for theliberation of Iranian women and society as a whole.The Anarchist Federation stands in solidarity with the Iranian womenfighting for freedom, victims of discrimination, restrictions,prohibitions, oppression, repression, threats, warnings from theauthorities, violence, torture and executions, and with the Iranians whosupport this struggle at the cost of their their own freedom and theirown life. Because as Mikhail Bakunin, anarchist thinker and co-founderof organized anarchism, said: "I am only truly free when all the humanbeings around me, men and women, are equally free.
