Yesterday morning we witnessed yet another femicide in addition to
dozens of others in recent years in Greece. In the context of a realityof extreme impoverishment with burned forests all around, with floodsthat wipe out people and entire villages, with tragedies like Tempi andwith murders like that of Antonis, social fascism emerges. In otherwords, social cannibalism grabs the baton from the state and promotes ititself: Death. ---- What are the differences between the controller whodrowns on the job, the archmafioso in Palamas who sells EUR10 a six-packof water, and the father-cop who aims the barrel at his ex-wife? None.Everything in the womb of social cannibalism is everyday life.Nor are such incidents taken out of the harshest horror stories. Onemorning in the neighborhood of Kalamaria, a mother leaves her childrenat school and the father waits behind the door with a rifle to kill herand then kill himself.Our strong resistance against the double barrel of patriarchy and socialcannibalism is not reflected in a few arguments. Clearly our confidencein justice is about nil. It would be naive of us to join hands withthose who feed the Killer.
