prison in various institutions in Northern Italy because he was involved
in an affair (Prometheus trial) relating to some parcel bombs sent to
magistrates in Turin. The request for the 3 defendants was very high,
and for Beppe the highest: 18 years and 4 months in prison for "attack
with terrorist purposes". Great media outcry about the usual "anarchist
terrorism", and then, when the first degree trial ended with the full
acquittal of the three defendants, nothing in the media. ---- After
3-odd years in high security prison, Beppe returned to Sicily, to his
small town of origin, aware of the difficulties he would find in an
almost remote location, having to take care of his very ill elderly
mother, with a brother far away in Spain and a sister who, in his
absence, has drained his mother's accounts, leaving him with the burden
of dealing with the situation. Thus he found himself in a reality of
extreme isolation, as often happens to ex-prisoners, without a job,
without the supportive support of companions who are scarce in that
area, and with the pressures of a very difficult family situation in
which he is unable to find not even assistance solutions in the
municipal sector.

The comrade is facing this situation with extreme dignity, but we
believe that the anarchist movement can do something to give Beppe a
hand; solidarity between us has never been lacking, and this affair
calls us all personally to do our part.
