"Unlimited evolution is what breaks the dam Taking everything that
exists In the force of the current Where Uncle Sam makes his guess Thereis no bread left on the table Because no people can resist The death ofnature" ---- Excerpt from the song " Desde os temps de Sepé" by PedroOrtaça.* ---- It is not new that we are alerted to the climatecatastrophe that the neoliberal system applies with harsh blows ofspoliation to the entire Environment. The environmental debate, whichwas subject to a lot of political analysis, little commitment and wasminimized for a long time, is now gaining urgency. Around the world, warnings are being raised about rising temperatures in the northernhemisphere, a place where the global temperature is regulated withimportance. Large fires, strong heat waves, and floods across almost theentire globe have become more serious and more frequent. It is also notnew that the exploitation and domination of nature models have beendenounced with great resistance throughout Latin America. Fromcolonialism to more current economic projects, the methods continue toaim at the profits of elites, business sectors, large corporations tothe detriment of human life and the entire eco system that we areincluded in. The environmental plunder applied by neoliberalism fordecades, in the most varied parts of the planet, brings with it marks ofmisfortune and harmful transformations in the ability to live with aminimum of dignity, especially for the poorest.Devastating Nature, deepening poverty, decimating populations and theircultures is a constitutive part of the modus operandi of financialcapitalism. And, the great global agreements, managed in the governancesummits of the great powers on climate and the environment, are very farfrom the planet's ecological and human emergencies, in practice they arenot fulfilled and those who suffer the most severe consequences arenature and the most oppressed populations in the world. Environmentaldevastation is managed by a literal project of death. The so-called "transition to Green Development", green is only in name, and "development" is for the few.Generally speaking, this new climate agenda only realigns the capacityof industrial blocs and large transnational companies to continueexploring the Environment, with a more environmentally friendly facade. In practice, we know that there is no political-economic interest inreducing greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere, there isno interest or desire to seek to reverse or at most balance theenvironmental damage on the planet. The warning shot of scientificstudies on global warming have already been ignored several times byworld powers, as if that were not enough, "scientific" studiesfraudulent by collaborators of Nature's exploitation models come intoplay to legitimize their culture of destruction. They plantmisinformation, relativize climate consequences and consequentlyencourage harmful denialism. They try to offset environmental impactsand damage with fallacies of social development, work and quality oflife. And what we have in fact is the absolute opposite of these statements. For decades they imposed on the social imagination a lifestyle of"having" to "being". They made visible and destroyed original forms oflife to implement the rule of voracious consumerism. If you don'tconsume a certain lifestyle, it is outside the standards considered normal. However, the popular struggle in Latin America against this project ofplunder and death has always been alive and well. From Central Americato Tierra del Fuego there were and are revolts, direct actions andmobilizations to denounce and resist the advance of neo-liberalism andits consequences. The complaint against the IIRSA Plan was a greatexample, struggles involving large groups and more localized struggles, all important and necessary. IIRSA, after 20 years of operation, irreversible impacts and much exploration in areas of environmentalimportance, managed to build paths that facilitate the removal ofnatural assets. It is true that it lost strength and was unable toconsolidate its entire package. However, we are facing a new adaptationof its same policy, due to the new global geopolitical configuration, which is focused on our continent, as is the case of China and itseconomic initiatives, both in Brazil and in other countries in America.Latin.In Brazil, for example, Agribusiness is one of the fundamental pillarsfor the destruction, from north to south, of our eco system.Transnational corporations, with their massive export of natural goodsand their spread across different territories, have also played, inrecent decades, the role of plundering and preying on our Environment, destroying original and traditional communities, all of this supportedby the policies that allowed and facilitated their installations andoperation. And here it is necessary to highlight that the currentgovernments are indifferent. The large fires in the north of the country, the socio-environmentalscourge of mining companies, deforestation, diversion of river courses, construction of large dams, the green desert of eucalyptus and soybeansin the Pampa Biome (one of the most devastated Biomes we have) were therule constant effort to quench the thirst for profit of these sectorsthat control the territory of our country. It is also true that, notwithout resistance from Indigenous communities, quilombolas and ruralsocial movements. The fight for environmental issues has always beenstrong in these sectors, due to the direct impact of Agribusinesspolicies and transnational companies. The most current agenda that goes hand in hand with 'resisting tosurvive' is the fight against the "Temporal Framework". The subjects ofthis struggle are our original peoples, who for centuries have madetheir lives available to defend the preservation of nature and our mainbiomes. The Temporal Milestone is the continuity of the struggle betweenthe customs of 'good living' originating against the colonialinheritance on our lands. It is no surprise that Brazil is one of thecountries that kills the most environmentalists in the world, any voicethat rises against this environmental massacre, according to the logicof the State, needs to be silenced. It is also necessary to continuedenouncing and demanding measures to stop the indigenous genocide, whichis very serious in Brazil. Now, the situation spills over drastically into impacts on cities, largeand small, which have not built life and growth projects in balance withthe Environment. That is why it is essential to quickly rethink the citymodels we have, and the ways to face situations of environmental scourgeso that no more lives are lost due to lack of warning or immediateassistance.Everything is interconnected and the climate issue needs to gain evenmore prominence and priority on our different action fronts. In Rio Grande do Sul, a few days ago we experienced an environmentaltragedy where lives were lost and thousands of people lost their homes, the overwhelming impact of floods and storms left paths of greatsadness, despair and abandonment. There were many cities, rural andriverside locations that suffered the major impacts of yet anothercyclone. The most emblematic case certainly points to the northwestregion of the state, more precisely to the Taquari Valley, where citieswere literally swallowed by the force of the waters. Dozens of liveslost, homes destroyed, an impactful scenario. We need to be alert anddemand investigations into the possible lack of evacuation alerts thatcould prevent the deaths that occurred. Insist on the transparency ofmonitoring mechanisms for dams that operate on rivers that overflow intocities. If the meteorological warnings about the amount of rain in thatregion were already published, why didn't they trigger a plan toimmediately evacuate people from those cities?Only the people save the people. Here, it is important to highlight that solidarity from those below isan immediate example, mainly from the MST, which in a few hours afterthe tragedy installed a support network to help the families in thatlocation. Solidarity that is more than written words and that does notneed authorization from the state bureaucracy to happen. Pay attentionto other groups, organized or not, that were also important in thischain of solidarity. Our admiration also for the courage of theresidents themselves, who in the midst of despair fought, risking theirlives, to not leave their family and neighbors without help. And, theyare now resigned to the task of rebuilding themselves in the midst of somuch pain and loss. May they never lack the beautiful gesture ofsolidarity among those from Below. From now on, it is of fundamental importance that we are articulatedand have an action mechanism for situations like these, articulatingpopular support committees for environmental catastrophes. Pressuregovernments for an effective warning and relief plan for all times ofpossible disasters. Denounce the agents of the disasters, the slownessof warnings to the population and, above all, demand, through the forceof popular struggle, that the rich and the looting elite pay the bill.It is unacceptable for them to go flat and leave the responsibility forrestructuring empty-handed to those below. The oppressed peoples of the world do not deserve another day of thefilth of the capitalist system that devastates people and our environment.Gaúcha Anarchist Federation / CABhttps://cabanarquista.org/a-tragedia-climatica-mundial-que-os-ricos-agronegocio-e-transnacionais-paguem-a-conta/https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=704425938383624&set=a.469140221912198_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
