(Text from the Sociale group, anarchist federation Rennes), for the
mobilizations of Saturday September 23 "against police violence, systemic racism and for public freedoms" ---- "If we demonstrate thisSeptember 23, 2023, it will not is not to make a moral trial of aparticular cop but rather to denounce the police institution in itsentirety. --- We often think that the military function consists offighting the external enemy, foreigners, in short, and that the role ofthe Police is to repress the internal enemy, that is to say on the onehand racialized populations, on the other the social movement. This isin fact quite inaccurate: it is the Police with borders which huntsimmigrants, and the Mobile Gendarmerie is regularly called upon toimpress the demonstrators, as evidenced by the use of armored vehiclesin Sainte-Soline or in 2018 during the Yellow Vest movement. Inaddition, the Police equips itself and equips itself in an increasinglymilitary manner. In reality, the State distributes to these two armedarms the repressive roles that its policy in the service of capitaldictates. The National Police has been counter-revolutionary since its creation.Let us not forget that it was created under the Vichy government whichestablished it by decree of Marshal Pétain and that one of its firstactivities was to deliver oppressed populations, particularly Jews, tothe Nazis. Dissolved by the National Council of the Resistance, it wasthen refounded by De Gaulle and returned to service with enthusiasm. Forexample in October 1961 when it repressed a demonstration for theindependence of Algeria where several dozen Algerians died, beaten ordrowned; or in May 1967 when it bloodily crushed strikes in Guadeloupe;or in July 1977 when a grenade killed a demonstrator during ananti-nuclear rally; and again in 1986 with the murder of MalikOussekine. In fact, the National Police never stopped opposing the labormovement and racialized populations until this year 2023 when it will benoted in particular by its violence against demonstrators in Ste-Solineand by the assassination of young Nahel Merzouk on June 27.Indeed, the acts against racialized populations or the repression of thesocial movement are not blunders of a corrupt police force but only itsraison d'être since always. It is in view of this observation that wecall for its abolition. If criticizing the political role of the Police is necessary, it must beaccompanied by the strongest condemnation of its legalist counterpart,Justice. This, equipped with a collection of so-called strictlytechnical professionals (in reality eminently political) such aslawyers, bailiffs, notaries, judges... with the most absurd and outdatedcostumes and titles, some than the others, would like us to believe inthe fiction of the rule of law: "Justice is the same for everyone", "Noone is supposed to ignore the Law"... In short, a sort of public serviceguaranteeing the social order according to which the sacrosanct "GeneralInterest" would be safeguarded. The reality is harsher: 3/4 of theprisoners come from the working classes. The State only very exceptionally locks up white-collar workers (MauricePapon only served 3 years in prison for the at least 4 trains of Jews hesent to the death camps), while a prosecutor comes recently to sentencea suburban rioter to 10 months in prison for stealing a can of RedBull.Class justice is a reality, and it is she who pronounces very heavysentences today against environmental activists and against tradeunionists while she allows the worst polluting bosses on the planet toact with impunity (glyphosates, chlordecone , plastics and fossil fuels)and exploiters of workers. Bourgeois justice only exists to legitimizethe framework of exploitation and private property. Thus, if we want to put an end to police oppression and judicialrepression, we must structurally destroy the State and the bourgeoisie.Because as long as there is a state, there will be a ruling class andtherefore a militia/police to protect its interests. The fight againstpolice violence will be fruitless if it is not linked to class strugglesand vice versa.Pretending that the police help reduce crime is an absurd excuse: themultiplication of personnel supposed to combat drug trafficking has beena blatant failure for years. Furthermore, by killing, blinding, breakingall laws, and claiming not to be subject to them, she herself makesherself a criminal. The Police, like all institutions, did not fall from the sky: on thecontrary, it is a creation of the Order established to protect itself.Generally speaking, the working class knows how to organize and protectitself. It establishes peace not by the baton but by attacking thesources of the problems, such as poverty and education. It tries toprevent attacks before they take place, and to resolve conflicts throughmediation and not through repression. Moreover, several neighborhoodslike Exarchia in Athens or Christiania in Copenhagen operate withoutpolice and are safer than the places where police are prevalent in theirneighborhood.http://anars56.over-blog.org/2023/09/abolir-la-police-est-une-necessite-tract-23-septembre-2023.html_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
