From 4 to 6 August the NO MUOS Movement organized the fighting camp at
the Ulmo district garrison. Several days of work, numerous volunteers, a
national subscription, allowed the campsite to be ready, equipped and
efficient from the days before the start date. And indeed the three days
took place without any particular problems, with self-managed cooking,
harmony and sociability, disturbed only by the incessant coming and
going of the vehicles of the various police forces and the army
committed to protecting the US base from the activists.
On the first day those present were divided into two working groups, on
training and war and on women and war; a stimulating debate emerged
which also allowed us to identify fighting deadlines for the autumn;
among many, the date of 4 November already proposed by the Observatory
against the militarization of schools, was adopted by the present realities.

In the afternoon, after an important meeting with some citizens of
Niscemi on the topic of health and the growing number of tumors among
the population, which ended with some intervention commitments in the
town and in the surrounding area, a few dozen activists left for a
significant NO MUOS trek, led by representatives of some local
environmental associations. An opportunity to discover the beauty of the
cork forest, with its "large oak" over 450 years old, but also the havoc
represented by the impactful presence of the Marines' military structure.

In the evening, a meeting on the Kurdish women's movement involved those
present, proving extremely interesting.

The second day opened with the plenary awaiting the movements.

The opening speech of the NO MUOS Movement placed the emphasis on the
PNRR, on the opening of the EU to the production and sale of ammunition
for Ukraine with funds intended for "social cohesion"; on military
spending; on NATO expansion; on the militarization of Sicily and the
fight against US and NATO military bases as a fight against war. But
also on military interference in the research and education sector. The
movement reiterated the centrality of war. Sicily is going through a
moment of expansion of military occupation in line with devastating
projects, which require militarization of the territories, on a par with
the TAV or the Strait Bridge. All environmentalist, anti-racist,
feminist, labor-related struggles, etc., have a common thread and a
point of unification in the issue of war that can lead to a very strong
movement, which, moreover, also strengthens the individual struggles.

Representatives of the NO TAV movements in Val Susa, NO TAV of Trento,
No Poligono Friuli, No Base Coltano took part in the debate; from Sicily
activists No Ponte (Messina), from Punta Izzo Possibile (Augusta), from
No Gela incinerator, from Terra insumisa (Alcamo) and many individuals.
There was no shortage of interventions on the Niscemi mafia mandate,
insights into the war ("it can only be stopped with the revolution"),
critical positions on the slogan "stop the escalation", a terminology
used by parliamentarians ("Wars don't break out , but they are prepared,
and it is the crisis that causes war, not the other way around").
Interventions on some initiatives at the university or in neighborhoods
of Catania, on the fires in Sicily (which showed how Canadair and other
emergency vehicles were missing in an area full of military bases). The
assembly therefore adopted the deadline of 21 October launched by the
Tuscan movement.

In the afternoon, a combative procession of around 200 activists
descended to gate 1 of the base, where they were awaited by a
disproportionate deployment of forces, with water cannons ready to shoot
water, riot police, mounted police, an official helicopter and so on and
so forth. there's more to it. The procession did not give him the
satisfaction of a highly announced clash and, bypassing the gate, he
extended the route reaching the hill overlooking the MUOS allowing the
many and many who had not yet seen this "war jewel" to realize person.

The budget meeting of the campsite took place on Sunday 6th; many things
were said, revolving around the centrality of the war, the resumption of
the intervention in the town to involve the population, the construction
of an anti-militarist network in Sicily with those present and also

August inside the MUOS base, near gate 2". This happens too.

At the bottom of this report we note the acquittal of the 20 comrades*
from Catania in the Court of Appeal in Caltanissetta, last July 12,
after having been sentenced to approximately 2 years each for the
clashes that occurred in the summer of 2014 at one of the gates of the
