More than ever, we must express our solidarity with thePalestinian people, and our own unions must take part in this fight forjustice.Israel has demanded that 1.1 million Palestinians evacuate the northernhalf of Gaza, while subjecting them to constant bombardment. Thisruthless measure is part of Israel's plan, which enjoys the unwaveringsupport and active participation of the United States and the majorityof European states, to carry out heinous and unprecedented massacresagainst the 2, 3 million Palestinians from Gaza and carry out ethniccleansing of the region. Since Saturday, Israel has indiscriminately andintensively bombarded Gaza and cut off fuel, electricity, water, foodand medical supplies. Israel has killed more than 2,700 Palestinians,including 614 children, razing entire neighborhoods, eliminating entirefamilies and injuring more than 10,000 people. Some international lawexperts have begun to warn of genocidal acts by Israel.Furthermore, the far-right Israeli government has distributed more than10,000 rifles to extremist settlers in 1948 Palestine and the occupiedWest Bank, in order to facilitate the escalation of attacks and pogromsagainst Palestinians. Israel's actions, massacres and rhetoric indicateits intention to implement the long-promised second Nakba, expelling asmany Palestinians as possible and creating a "new Middle East" in whichPalestinians live perpetually submissive.The response from Western states has been complete and total support forthe State of Israel, without even a wink to international law. Thisamplified Israel's impunity, giving it carte blanche to wage itsgenocidal war without limits. Beyond diplomatic support, Western statesprovide arms to Israel and endorse the activities of Israeli armscompanies within their borders.As Israel intensifies its military campaign, Palestinian unions arecalling on their international counterparts and all people of conscienceto end all forms of complicity in Israel's crimes by urgently stoppingthe arms trade with Israel, as well as any military funding andresearch. The time to act is now - Palestinian lives are at stake.Fight against our complicit governmentsThis urgent and genocidal situation can only be averted through amassive increase in global solidarity with the people of Palestine thatcan rein in the Israeli war machine. We need you to act immediately -wherever you are in the world - to prevent the arming of the Israelistate and the companies involved in the blockade infrastructure. We drawinspiration from previous union mobilizations in Italy, South Africa andthe United States, as well as similar international mobilizationsagainst the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in the 1930s, against thefascist dictatorship in Chile in the 1930s. 1970 and elsewhere, whereglobal solidarity limited the scale of colonial brutality.We call on the unions in the sectors concerned to: - Refuse tomanufacture weapons intended for Israel. - Refuse to transport weaponsto Israel. - To adopt motions to this effect within their union. - Takeaction against complicit companies participating in the brutal andillegal siege of Israel, particularly if they have contracts with yourinstitution. - Pressure governments to stop all military trade withIsrael and, in the case of the United States, to stop funding it. Wemake this appeal as we witness attempts to ban and silence all forms ofsolidarity with the Palestinian people.We ask you to speak out and take action in the face of injustice, asunions have historically done. We make this appeal because we areconvinced that the struggle for justice and liberation of Palestine isnot only a regionally and globally determined struggle.
