WORLD WORLDWIDE CZECH ARGENTINA News Journal Update - (en) Czech, AFED: ARGENTINA CHOSE ANARCHY? (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

In recent days, the whole world has been talking about Argentina: the

ultra-liberal candidate from the Libertarian Party, Javier Miley, wonthe presidential elections there. Various media have managed to dubJavier an anarchist, and we cannot ignore this situation, given the deepmisconceptions in the political analysis of the views of the far-rightpresident by many "experts" on social networks. ----- You can start witha simple thing - go through the views of Miley himself and understandhow they can affect the condition of the ordinary population of thecountry. A proponent of the "market settles everything" ideology, alsoknown as libertarianism, Argentina's new president believes inminimizing government involvement in the economic life of thepopulation. In the ideology of far-right liberalism, the engine ofsocial development becomes private business, which is responsible, amongother things, for the well-being of its employees. Tax cuts could havesome serious consequences for the social projects on which much of thepopulation depends, from short-term unemployment benefits to access tohealth care. Most of these social projects are not the result of statecharity, but of the social struggle of workers over the entire existenceof the state as such.In addition to reducing government spending and minimizing taxes,Miley's ideology involves reducing the role of the state in matters ofprotecting the safety of the population. Instead of centralizedinstitutions such as the police, the idea of protection is transferredto the shoulders of private businesses, which, along with the right toarms, get the opportunity to create their own small armies that useviolence to their own advantage. It is difficult to imagine counting onthe formation of self-organized groups of workers to fight both stateand corporate violence in a country that has elected such a presidentand continues to drown in an economic crisis.Poverty in Argentina remained at around 40% by the time of theelections. In such economic conditions, the growing influence of theprivate sector can lead to serious consequences for the rights of thepopulation. The famous gun rights for which libertarians are so famous,in this case, will likely become an additional factor in the control ofthe workforce, most of whom are unlikely to be able to afford guns, given the current state of affairs. In general, the promises of Mealey's "new" politics are reminiscent ofthe old school capitalist shock doctrine described in Naomi Klein'sbook: the most radical representatives of the "free market" usepolitical/economic crises to push unpopular measures as a solution to aproblem. Some residents of the former Soviet empire can still rememberthe story of the wild nineties with wild privatization. Then the most"entrepreneurial" ones became the winners, and the majority of thepopulation once again found themselves with nothing.Among other things, the circle of his friends speaks a lot about Miley'spolitical plans: starting from the outright fascist Spanish party VOX,and ending with such political figures as Trump and Bolzonaro - the newpresident of Argentina is clearly in the company of the far right, andhe has about the same number of connections with anarchists, There areso many American billionaires who, according to all market laws, avoidpaying taxes in every possible way in favor of the state. Some of our readers may ask themselves why suddenly anarchists areagainst reducing the role of the state in human life? Why are all theanarchists suddenly opposing Miley, part of whose program seems to besimilar to anarchism? The key problem lies in the conditions of the withering away/destructionof the state. Not every end-of-state scenario represents a transition toan anarchic society. One of the foundations of anarchism is a deeperlook at the problems of power in general. Modern anarchists advocate notonly the abolition of statehood, but also all other forms of humanexploitation: capitalism, patriarchy, racism and many others. In the case of Argentina, an aggressive reduction in the role of thestate and the transfer of the right to violence to private companies andcorporations can only lead to the transfer of power into the hands ofelites, over which the ordinary population has no influence at all. While the state sometimes experiences moments of political shock, as inthe case of the election of a Libertarian as president, in corporationsdecisions are made behind closed doors by only a small group of managers.Let's not forget quite simple truths: not every revolution leads to theliberation of the working people (and from our history we remember thateven under red flags, exploitation can continue for a long time), andnot every abolition of the state leads to an increase in the freedoms ofthe population. Last week, Argentines chose a right-wing politician, contrary to the lessons of the past and present. The current situationhas much less to do with anarchism and much more with aggressivecapitalism, which will continue to absorb the results of the work of themajority in favor of a small group of the most privileged. We only hopethat the lessons of Argentina, among other things, will be seen bysupporters of libertarianism in Belarus and other Russian-speakingregions and will finally understand that liberation from exploitation isimpossible without the destruction of capitalism.https://pramen.io/ru/2023/11/argentina-vybrala-anarhiyu/_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
