Israel has demanded that 1.1 million Palestinians evacuate the northernhalf of Gaza while they face constant bombardment. This ruthless actionis part of Israel's plan, which has the unconditional support and activeparticipation of the United States and most European states, to carryout unprecedented and atrocious massacres against 2.3 millionPalestinians in Gaza and to ethnically cleanse them once and for all.Since Saturday, Israel has bombarded Gaza indiscriminately andintensively, cutting off fuel, electricity, water, food and medicalsupplies. Israel has killed more than 2,600 Palestinians, including 724children, demolishing entire neighborhoods to the ground, wiping outentire families and injuring more than 10,000 people. Some internationallaw scholars have begun to warn of genocidal acts committed by Israel.Separately, Israel's right-wing government distributed more than 10,000rifles to extremist settlers in pre-1948 Palestine and the occupied WestBank to facilitate further attacks and pogroms against Palestinians.Israel's actions, massacres and speeches indicate its intention toimplement its long-promised second Nakba, expelling as many Palestiniansas possible and creating a "New Middle East" in which Palestinians liveperpetually dominated.The response from Western states has been total and absolute support forthe State of Israel, without even a cursory nod to international laws.This amplified Israel's impunity, giving it carte blanche to wage itsgenocidal war without limits. In addition to diplomatic support, Westernstates provide Israel with weapons, sanctioning the operation of Israeliarms companies within their borders.As Israel intensifies its military campaign, Palestinian unions call onour international counterparts and all conscious people to end all formsof complicity with Israel's crimes, by urgently stopping the arms tradewith Israel, as well as all funding and all military research. Now isthe time to act. Palestinian lives are in danger.This genocidal emergency can only be stopped by a massive increase inglobal solidarity with the Palestinian people that can stop the Israeliwar machine. We need you to act immediately, wherever you are in theworld, to prevent the arming of the State of Israel and the action ofthe companies involved in the infrastructure of the blockade. We drewinspiration from previous mobilizations led by unions in Italy, SouthAfrica and the United States, and similar international mobilizationsagainst the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in the 1930s, against thefascist dictatorship of Chile in the 1970s and wherever globalsolidarity limited the extent of colonial brutality.We call on major industrial unions to:Refuse to build weapons for Israel.Refuse to transport weapons to Israel.Vote on motions in their unions to this effect.Take action against complicit companies involved in implementingIsrael's brutal and illegal encirclement, especially if they havecontracts with your institution.Pressure governments to stop all military trade with Israel and in thecase of the United States, to finance it.We make this call because we see attempts to prohibit and silence anyform of solidarity with the Palestinian people. We ask you to make theirvoices heard and act in light of injustice, as unions have historicallydone. We make this appeal in the conviction that the struggle forPalestinian justice and liberation is not only a regionally and globallydetermined struggle.
