In a world where barbarism is commonplace, the Hamas attacks on October7, 2023 constituted a new level of horror: 1,400 Israeli deathsincluding 1,100 civilians (mostly proletarians) - massacred in atrociousconditions - and 300 soldiers and police officers, as well as hundredsof hostages taken to the Gaza Strip. The double dimension - mainlycriminal and pogromist, but also military - of Hamas attacks allows thesupporters of the so-called "pro-Palestinian" camp to tactically ignoremass crimes against civilian populations. Conversely, the so-called"pro-Israeli" camp (with which the "republican" axis which goes from thePS to the RN via LREM) is identified, "forgetting" the militarydimension, only mentions the massacres of civilians - thus making itpossible to justify other massacres of civilians, with the currentbombings on the Gaza Strip (which have already cost the lives of morethan 8,000 people).Like Israeli Defense Minister Yoav GALANT describing Gazans as"animals", there is no longer any distinction made between civilians andsoldiers: each people is considered as a large indistinct mass justready to be massacred. and the two "camps" present participate in thisbloody ball, summoning us to choose our barbarity. Beyond the emotiongenerated by these attacks, the political impasse in which Israelileaders have confined the population of Gaza for three decades made anattempt at a "military" solution inevitable sooner or later.Indeed, Israel, while seeking to break its relative diplomatic andeconomic isolation by negotiating peace treaties with neighboring Arabstates, left the Gazans languishing in a poor, overpopulated territoryregularly bombarded by the IDF - all without any prospect ofdevelopment. This attempt to make peace with the Arab States(traditional - although very hypocritical - supporters of thePalestinian cause) while leaving the Palestinian question unresolved hadan illusory character which was revealed in a bloody manner to Israelisociety during the attacks. from October 7, 2023.But, if the Gaza Strip is a prison, Hamas is its jailer appointed byIsrael. Indeed, in order to stem the - secular - Palestinian resistancemovements (Fatah, PFLP) in vogue at the time, the Israeli securityservices had no hesitation in supporting the development of Hamas inPalestine by not authorizing as the opening of mosques linked to theMuslim Brotherhood (doubling their number between 1967 and 1986) and byde facto delegating to them the tasks usually assigned to the WelfareState. The Israeli bet has only partly succeeded: it turns out inpractice that Islamism goes very well with nationalismbut, if not suppressing the Palestinian cause, the Israeli maneuver atleast made it possible to "Islamize" it. For thirty years, Hamas hasproven to be the objective ally of the most reactionary fringe of theZionist movement and guarantees, through its numerous attacks targetingcivilian population, that no fraternization between Jewish and Arabproletarians will be possible. This strategy was explained by the headof Israeli military intelligence Amos YADLIN in June 2007: "Israel wouldbe happy if Hamas seized Gaza because the armycould then treat Gaza as a hostile state.» Denounced by Gazan youth in a2010 Manifesto as "a sprawling organization that has spread acrosssociety, like a malevolent cancer determined to destroy in its spreaduntil thelast living cell", the Palestinian Brotherhood movement imposes a brutalsocial conservatism on an entire society and suppresses all oppositionby imposing a reign of terror.At the same time, in a society where Israeli youth were increasinglydetached from militarist and nationalist values, the abuses of Hamaswhich opportunistically targeted this same youth and attacked the placeswhich were the most hostile to the current government (the kibbutz ofBeer'i, a rave party for peace, etc.) have come to unite society aroundits historical pillars: the army, the war, anti-Arab racism. Because,beyond the elements of language distilled by the zealous propagandistsof Zionism ("Make the desert bloom", "A land without people for a peoplewithout land"), Israel is a "bourgeois, militarist and rabbinical" statecoupled with an "artificial economy" (International Situationist, 1967)totally dependent - for its survival - on US diplomatic, economic andmilitary aid.What was initially a socialist utopia, notably with the kibbutz movement(collectivist villages) led to ethnic cleansing during the Arab-Israeliwar and the creation of Israel in 1948, to become a neoliberal andunequal hell. The conditions for the creation of the State of Israel,however, are not exceptional: what made it particularly possible was themodern framework of nationalism embedded in a nation-state. The latternecessarily implies that a land, a people/a nation and a language, oreven - as a bonus - a religion, overlap. The modern Turkish state, forexample, was built on the genocide of the Armenian population. Thepartition of India in 1947 took place on ethno-religious grounds whichgave rise to massive population transfers and large-scale massacres(around a million deaths). Other countries, at their creation or later,have been engaged in wars between rival gangs - claiming to act in thename of this or that identity banner and themselves exploited bycompeting imperialisms - for the control of power and resources socio!economic: Rwanda (genocide of the Tutsis in 1994), South Sudan (civilwar from 2013 to 2020). Yugoslavia - dismantled by the imperialistpowers in the name of the "right of peoples to self-determination" -gave way to a myriad of states themselves prey to micro-nationalisms:thus, the Kosovar minority , which became the majority in "its" owncountry in 1999, discriminates against a Serbian population which has inturn become a minority. The right of peoples to self-determinationinevitably transforms into the right of newly created States to disposeof their minorities as they see fit. In light of all these examples, howcan we believe that the "two-state solution" in Palestine as advocatedby the "international community" could lead to a just and lastingsettlement of the conflict?In a world where rival imperialisms reign, where wealth is the subjectof conflicts, where the notions of "minority" and "majority"(unfortunately) retain their operational function, how can we think thata simple partition of Palestine on ethno-religious bases could beanything other than an additional step in the perpetuation of theconflict? Israel claims to be a "Jewish and democratic state", theconservation of its "Jewish" character can only be guaranteed bymaintaining the Arab population in a minority state and by dumping the"overflow" onto its Arab neighbors. And, in these conditions, what wouldbecome of the Jewish minority in the newly created Palestinian state?As for the alternative solution called "one State", that of all itscitizens, which State would it be? Of an enlarged Israel where all orpart of the Palestinians from the former occupied territorieswould be asked to go into exile elsewhere so as not to call intoquestion the Jewish majority of the State,while the Arabs would be kept at the bottom of the social ladder? Of an"Arab" state whichwould reduce Jews to the status of a minority and offer them noguarantee against anti-Semitism? How can we imagine that the two peoplescould, without a revolutionradical, forget overnight all their divisions and all their hatreds andunite ina common state? In its sober reality, the new State would not be, likeIsrael before it, "nothing other than a vulgar class society, where all the anomalies wouldbe reconstitutedof old societies" with its "hierarchical divisions", its racism and its"oppositionsethnic" (Situationist International, 1967). The so-called "realistic"solution is therefore only a utopia. The task of revolutionaries is notto propose solutions to better manage this world as it is, but todestroy it.For us, the world is divided into classes and not into clans or camps:we refuse todemonize people and countries and have no allegiance to nationalism inany form whatsoever. It is on the basis of their social condition thatpopulations must unite and not on the basis of their identity. This oldworld must disappear and there can be no question of us maintainingthese deadly old things that are nations, ethnic groups, races andreligions. We must dismantle the framework of the nation-state, with itsminorities and its majorities, to replace it everywhere with freelyfederated communes, councils, and soviets. The State is not the solutionto the problem of racism and anti-Semitism: it is the problem. Arabnationalism and pan-Islamism, on the one hand, and Zionism, on theother, are two sides of the same coin. Their spectacular confrontationtakes place on the backs of the proletariat.Let him finally rise and they will fall to the ground immediately! Theproletariat has no homeland! In the Middle East as everywhere else,neither one nor two nor three: zero State!
