when the next episode of our podcast was being prepared. And that issuewas collected by the same author as now. ---- The unprecedented scale ofthe attack was not yet clear: that 1,400 Israelis were killed and morethan 200 were taken hostage. But the forecast for the development ofevents, unfortunately, completely came true. ---- To quote: "The mostlikely scenario is that in the coming days the Israeli army will destroyhalf of the Gaza Strip.[...]Most importantly, the Hamas attack is aimedat disrupting negotiations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. Israelalready has partnerships with Egypt, Jordan, and the United ArabEmirates. Negotiations for a peace treaty with Saudi Arabia, the largestcountry in the region, are in full swing. Obviously, peace with theSaudis will be concluded on the terms of all kinds of bonuses for thePalestinians. And this does not suit Hamas, which rules in the GazaStrip: the Islamists build their power not on improving the lives oftheir people, but on cultivating hatred of Jews. There is clearly anexpectation that the Israeli army will enter the Gaza Strip, there willbe a lot of casualties among civilians, and the negotiation process willbreak down. And everything will be as both the Islamists and theultra-right madmen in the Israeli government love: war, destruction,death, shit and hatred."A month after the attack, we can say that, apparently, Hamas itselfinvented this whole story. If he coordinated the attack with the sameHezbollah (both organizations are protected by Iran), and the attackwould take place simultaneously from the Gaza Strip and southernLebanon, the Islamists would have a real chance of plunging Israel intochaos. And so the Israeli state recovered quite quickly from the blow,and is now ironing out the Gaza Strip .On Friday, November 3, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah read out apathetic address, which was preceded by an equally pathetic video from amilitary missile center: the Israeli video was tense, because Hezbollahis not only more powerful than Hamas, but also has qualitatively bettermissiles than Hamas . Hassan Nasrallah pathetically praised Hamas forits audacity and... merged from a full-scale war with Israel.Hamas is an organization that essentially practices a death cult. Theydedicated the attack on Israel to the Al-Aqsa mosque. "Al-Aqsa" stood asit stood, and nothing threatened it and does not threaten it. Hamas doesnot care that this attack could not help but bring grief to hundreds ofthousands of Palestinian families in Gaza. True, Hamas's frostbite hasits limits: the entire Hamas leadership is outside Gaza, some of themare dollar millionaires. Some fly Israeliflags, devaluing the lives of civilians in Gaza and the numerous humanrights violations suffered by Palestinians in the West Bank.Others march with Palestinian flags, devaluing the lives of those killedin the Hamas attack. Forgetting that Hamas is truly an organizationquite comparable to ISIS. There is virtually no discourse about how lifein Gaza can be reorganized by ousting Hamas.Ordinary Israelis and ordinary residents of Gaza are not the same asIsrael as a state and Hamas. In Gaza, Hamas established a dictatorship,and for the last fifteen years it has been even less realistic to opposeHamas there than in Putin's Russia against the war in Ukraine.The arms business mainly benefits from the Palestinians' unclear statusfrozen for decades. Half of Europe buys Israeli weapons because they arequickly tested in practice.Ordinary Israelis mostly have troubles from this situation: the risk ofbecoming a victim of a terrorist attack, the huge amount of weapons inthe country leads to the fact that they easily end up in the hands ofbandits. Criminal shootings are not uncommon in Israeli cities. A hugearmy leads to high taxes and high prices in stores.Among Israelis, the prestige of military service is clearly declining,and the number of supporters of any option that would give normal rightsto the Palestinians is growing. In addition to stateless Palestinians,there are almost two million Arabs with citizenship in Israel. Dozens ofArab Israelis were also killed by Hamas in the October 7 attack.There is virtually no support for Hamas among Arab citizens. In Israel,more than a hundred criminal cases have been opened for comments onsocial networks in support of Hamas, but by local standards these aretrifles. Here, when people protest, they protest. In the summer therewere protests by the Druze - this is one of the ethno-religious groupsof the Arabs - they opposed the project of wind power plants on theirlands, which they saw as a threat to the environment. The Druze heldlarge rallies, fought with cops, and threw Molotov cocktails.Arab citizens with citizenship study at universities and work in avariety of jobs, including the police. They live in the sameneighborhoods as Jews, are treated in the same hospitals, go to the samebeaches and the same cafes. Signs in public places are duplicated in Arabic.This fairly successful experience gives us hope that, at least in thelong term, normal relations between Jews and Palestinians are possible:at one time it was a matter of chance, who, when and why among thePalestinians was given Israeli citizenship and who was not.Pogrom at the airportWhen an angry crowd was looking for Jews at the Makhachkala airport ,the previous episode of our podcast had already been recorded andedited. Therefore, it was not included in the previous news collection.But the story with the Makhachkala airport remained one of the moststriking events of the week.Russian propaganda has saddled itself with the Israeli-Palestinianissue, presenting it as a failure of American international policy. Themore the United States supported Israel, the more the Russian Federationbecame their opponents. On October 26, a Hamas delegation even visitedMoscow.Against this background, passions ran high in the North Caucasus:anti-Semitic street actions began, and a Jewish cultural center underconstruction in Nalchik was set on fire. The culmination was the attackof an angry crowd on the Makhachkala airport.Fortunately, the pogromists were unable to find any Jews, but the crowdheld the aviation hub for several hours. The actions of the crowdincluded a whole bunch of criminal offenses: inciting national hatred,mass riots, violence against police officers. The seizure of the airportitself as a strategically important facility can be qualified underseveral more serious criminal articles.At the time of preparation of the issue, Dagestani cops were afraid toarrest anyone as part of a criminal case. Although representatives ofthe authorities of both Dagestan and the Russian Federation condemnedthe pogrom. This is, indeed, nonsense that is unprofitable for the Kremlin.Why was this pogrom possible? Firstly, against the backdrop of theendless Ukrainian war, degradation and irrational anger are accumulatingin Russian society. In Russian-speaking regions it is increasinglyspilling over to migrants, and in the North Caucasus - now to Jews.Which is actually absurd, in the Caucasus there are many Jewishcommunities that rarely conflict with other peoples there.Secondly, the state apparatus in the Russian Federation is graduallylosing the functions of the so-called "normal state", turning into akind of constructor made of the most bizarre rules and practices, thesole purpose of which is to retain power by Putin.It's funny that this has to be said in an anarchist podcast, but back inthe 18th century, the French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau definedthe state as a "social contract." That is, a set of rules and laws thatwork for the benefit of society determine the rules of life for citizensof the state. Naturally, in reality this is not entirely true, but it isassumed that states are at least trying to look like this very "socialcontract".What do we see in the Russian Federation? If you're tough enough, youcan attempt a mutiny that might involve the death of Russian armyofficers. And you won't be arrested, but will be secretly blown up on aprivate plane, simultaneously killing innocent pilots and a flightattendant.If you are tough enough, you can bring your 15-year-old son to thepre-trial detention center, who will beat one of the defendants. And notonly will no one answer for this, but my son will be given regionalorders from different subjects of the Russian Federation.There are no more laws that are binding on everyone. Who is stronger isright.
