Lyon UCL group is a part, organized an anti-fascist weekend on November
11 and 12. On the program: a demonstration in the city center and
anti-fascist social forums in Villeurbanne. ---- The demonstration,
despite a date not conducive to a large mobilization, brought together
nearly 3,000 people on a route imposed by the Prefecture refusing
passage on the quays of the Saône on the Old Lyon side. It is on this
side that the premises and sports hall of the La Traboule and Agogé
identity groups are located, managed by the small group Les Remparts
(formerly Génération Identitaire).

Successful meetings
Thanks to the comrades who came from the Region and in particular from
Grenoble, the UCL procession looked great and was the most extensive
political organization procession! The next day, anti-fascist social
forums were organized during the day (10 a.m.-7 p.m.) with workshops:
the foundations of far-right ideologies, far-right in the world of work,
the social drivers of the RN vote, the extreme -right against women,
what is the far right in power, ecology and the double trap of the far
right, propaganda tools, immigration laws... and a conference to close
the day in the presence of Edwy Plenel from Mediapart.

It was a great success since several hundred people came during the day.
At the end of the conference, a map with the location of two new
premises was presented: that of Action Française and the room used by
Lyon Populaire for its training. It was also an opportunity for our
group to host a press table at our bookstore La Plume Noire! Few cities
in France can offer such events in a united manner and the success of
this weekend is a real springboard for the future.

Stop far-right violence
The objective for us in this type of initiative always remains the same:
"understand to better fight against the extreme right". And we saw that
the weekend was unfortunately not organized for nothing because
following the demonstration, a group of 30 to 50 masked and armed
fascists attacked a conference on Palestine in Old Lyon. Later in the
evening, four students were attacked by fascists at Traboule. New proof
of the almost total impunity of small fascist and neo-Nazi groups in
Lyon! Faced with this new cycle of violence, UCL will continue:

to invest in the unitary collective to demand the definitive closure of
fascist premises;
to propose educational awareness actions on these small groups;
to develop self-defense in all of our activist practices;
to organize increasingly massive popular mobilizations to counter hate
speech;
to broaden the anti-fascist struggle to other struggles (feminism,
anti-racism, environmentalism).
