WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE AUSTRIA - news journal UPDATE - (en) Austria, Wien Syndikat: Update on Le Firin - Will the second Le Firin also soon go bankrupt? (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

The latest news in the long history of our industrial dispute against

the company Le Firin may even herald the end of Le Firin. Insolvency
proceedings have also been opened against the second company structure
of the managing director of Le Firin. But let's first recap the whole
story. ---- At both the old and the new LeFirin, the managing director
has continuously either not paid wages and invoices at all or paid them
far too late and only partially. We now have countless statements from
former employees on this, as well as a report that the first company
called Le Firin, which went bankrupt in autumn 2023, had 1.3 million in
debt (which is really something to be achieved with three bakery
businesses!).

If things cannot continue like this because the demands can no longer be
paid under any circumstances, the managing director lets the companies
go bankrupt, with the outstanding wages being taken over by the
insolvency wage fund anyway (and thus socialized, see our last report on
the subject). The managing director is never the owner: the official
owners are always his family members, so that he himself is never liable
for anything and his creditworthiness is not tarnished. At the company
CSC Trade & Gastro e.U., which went bankrupt in autumn 2023, his wife
was the owner.

At Atelier Le Firin GmbH, which is now in insolvency proceedings, the
managing director's mother is the official owner. After the old Le Firin
company structure went bankrupt, Le Firin continued to operate with a
new branch on Rochusmarkt, including the use of the old name and logo
and public reference to its history. The Ücler bakery branch on
Aumannplatz also simply passed into the hands of the new Le Firin,
apparently without compensation.

The Le Firin employer model also remained the same: wages not paid, or
only paid in part, or paid far too late. Employees of the new Le Firin
have also reported this to us several times. Together with possible
claims from the insolvency administrator of the first Le Firin regarding
squandering assets regarding the transfer of the bakery and the brand
name, the new insolvency proceedings now seem to us to be the logical
consequence.

However, this is a restructuring procedure, which means that the company
could even continue to operate if the creditors waive part of the debts.
Regardless of whether the Le Firin business model can continue or
whether this is the end of the Le Firin brand, one thing is clear: as
long as capitalism exists, there will always be more Le Firins and
corresponding managing directors. In this sense: join the anarchist union!
