The outrageous act of another "Atlantean who straightened his shoulders"
caused a strike of construction workers in Kazan. ---- On July 10, atthe construction site of the Millennium residential complex, the
director of the Kazan production and construction association, Ravil
Ziganshin, beat up a crane operator, accusing him of being late for
work. In response, the beaten man's colleagues announced "Stop Crane"
protests, declaring that they would not return to work until the
capitalist apologized and paid monetary compensation to the victim.
The cranes did not work all night, and the next morning the crane
operators gathered in the parking lot next to the construction site. No
one climbed the cranes. The owner brought four strikebreakers, who did
not have the proper clearance or qualifications, and they launched three
cranes. At the same time, the capitalist attacked the workers with
insults and threatened a lockout.
The crane operators contacted the police, saying that unauthorized
persons were illegally on the cranes and that a situation was being
created that was dangerous for others. The police arrived at the scene
and stopped the cranes. Negotiations began. In addition to an apology
and compensation, the workers demanded an increase in wages, the
introduction of mandatory training for slingers, timely repair of
cranes, and a ban on working on faulty cranes.
The employer was forced to promise to satisfy all demands, and the
workers said that as soon as their demands were met, they would return
to work. In addition, the workers were invited to a meeting with the
Minister of Construction of Tatarstan.
