After the Flemish education system joins next Monday, children across the entire country will be back to their classrooms until June next year. While nearly all countries have their own peculiarities in how they arrange education, the language divide adds an extra layer of difficulty for many internationals trying to find their way in Belgium's schooling system. As the school calendars are no longer aligned, the various holidays, exam periods and various happenings in Belgian education can be chaotic – both for pupils and parents. Many parents will know that schooldays do not always match their working hours – especially not on Wednesdays, when all schools finish up at midday.
