Durov's detention ---- This was written about almost everywhere, but let
us recall that on August 24, Pavel Durov was detained in France becauseTelegram does not cooperate with the French authorities. ---- We have
already written our position. It raised several questions, and we will
gladly participate in the discussion on the topic of freedom of speech,
but now we will try to briefly outline our point of view once again.
First. Now most of the Russian media is in Telegram. There are questions
about Telegram, it definitely has a number of vulnerabilities (and,
probably, backdoors), which are used by security forces. Any more or
less sensitive information should not be discussed in Telegram, and it
should only be used with Tor/VPN.
Second. Cooperation with any state is unacceptable. Surveillance of
users is not a necessary evil. She is simply evil.
Third. The platform owners are not responsible for what is published on
their platform. And if they are responsible, then only to users and
people, but not to the state.
This raises many questions: is it possible to de-anonymize the cops, and
wiretap the phones of Nazis, is censorship acceptable on digital
platforms? If so, who should take the role of censor and moderator?
Freedom through war for corrupt officials
The former Minister of Health of the Irkutsk region, who was at the
center of several scandals and subsequently accused of corruption, tried
to free himself by going to war. But either his former boss, the current
governor of the region, refused, or corrupt officials are not taken to war.
We will never know the truth, as they say. But it is quite interesting
to what extent such a scheme has already been imprinted in the logic of
the "correctional" system. Stories are already quite popular when
murderers, maniacs or pedophiles are released through war, and then
commit new crimes.
Murder in Perm Krai
This week, news broke that a prisoner recruited by the Wagner PMC
returned last fall after being wounded, and on August 29, the bodies of
a 27-year-old girl and her 7-year-old daughter were found in the city of
Chusovoy.
The killer was detained on August 31. Unverified sources claim that he
killed the girl out of jealousy.
Apparently, the story is too outrageous, and on August 31, the Wagner
PMC wrote on their resources that Buchin could not have been recruited
by them, since "the recruitment of prisoners for participation in the
SVO was stopped by the company long before Artem Buchin could sign the
contract." It later turned out that he signed a contract with the
Ministry of Defense in August 2023. He was wounded in the war and went
on vacation, from which he was supposed to return in September.
He ended up in prison a year ago for the rape and murder of a
23-year-old girl. He was given a 20-year sentence.
There are many such stories. Not all those returned from the war commit
crimes later, but why has the "correctional system" in recent years only
been encouraging murderers and rapists? And the problem is not in the
specific Russian system: it just does it vulgarly and almost for show.
Well, and for those who like "the tsar is good, the boyars are bad."
Earlier, in November 2023, Buchin already made it into the news: as a
rapist who was pardoned by Putin.
Murderers and rapists need rehabilitation work, they need psychologists,
other specialists, but certainly not sending them to murder and death.
Although first of all, we need to help the victims and isolate rapists
and murderers from victims and potential victims.
While hundreds of people are sitting in prison for freedom of speech,
thousands of murderers and rapists kill and return to our yards.
But it also happens that murderers go to teach children.
PMC "Wagner" and "Akhmat" teach "IT specialists"
In Tuva, mercenaries from PMC "Wagner" and a soldier from "Akhmat" told
students from a school camp at the "IT specialists" technical school
about the "importance of good studies, mutual assistance and discipline".
Two of the mercenaries were serving sentences for robbery and attempted
murder.
It is not clear who, in principle, came up with the idea to invite
murderers and robbers to such an event. But if you think about it, the
blame for the fact that people commit robbery, murder and so on lies not
only with these people, but also with the system as a whole. It is the
Russian state that has made thieves, murderers and rapists out of people.
We all have a lot of work to do to save as many souls as possible. To
protect hundreds of people from the stigma of murderers. All this had to
be done, and many of us did it. Many anarchists have condemned attempts
to create educational projects and, in general, attempts to talk about
anything other than the "class question." But education, including
anti-patriarchal education, will definitely reduce the number of violent
crimes. And today, every person we read about in the news could be free,
not kill anyone, and not get their hands dirty in the war unleashed by
the Russian state.
But that was in the past. We need to think about all this, reflect and
analyze, but the most important thing is to learn lessons and prepare to
meet tomorrow with greater skills, strength and abilities than we have now.
