Colonial rule, military dictatorships, revolutions - like many other
African countries, Sudan has a long history of exploitation andoppression. But in 2018, the people of Sudan opened a new chapter on
their own. ----strength. They formed an impressive resistance movement
that rose up against the old military regime. Many people placed their
hopes in a revolution from below. Grassroots movements and neighborhood
initiatives should be role models for a solidarity-based and
democratically organized Sudanese society. Then came the year 2023 and
with it the war. Since then, the country's progressive and revolutionary
forces have been caught between two reactionary military factions. Day
by day, the humanitarian catastrophe worsens.
Nevertheless, Sudan is hardly talked about in politics, the media and
society. We want to change that. That's why we're inviting you to an
information event. In a lecture, we will look at the historical,
political and economic background of current events. We will also give
an insight into the work of the revolutionary resistance movement.
Afterwards, we want to exchange ideas and discuss it with you.
The event is taking place as part of the solidarity campaign for
Sudanese anarchists. Like countless other people, they are forced to
flee Sudan. To support them, we will be collecting donations this evening.
Come along, we look forward to seeing you!
There will also be a little something to eat and solidarity drinks. Café
Noir will remain open after the event.
