 A year of destruction has passed in the Gaza Strip. Nothing has

subsided, on the contrary, the conflict and violence have spread in all
their catastrophic forms: in size, in number of deaths and injuries but
also in size of area, now the entire neighboring region is involved,

Buildings, hospitals, roads explode, killing people every day, every
hour. The northern area of Gaza today is completely destroyed by the
carpet bombing and demolitions carried out by the Israeli army. Like all
or almost all the others, even the homes rebuilt with the help of
Italian cooperation have now been completely destroyed. I have been
working as an aid worker in Gaza for twenty years and there have been
enormous destructions in the past, among the latest the attack in 2014
and the operation "Cast Lead". But this is unprecedented. Gaza is a
Ground Zero.
Shortly before the attack, we had installed desalination plants in
schools and parks to allow people to get drinking water, because it was
salty when it arrived in homes. Now water, a common good, has been cut
off in Gaza with the intent of making the population die of thirst, as
well as bombs and hunger. It arrives only in paid tankers, thanks to
donations.
The aid that the international community should send is being illegally
blocked by the Israeli authorities, with the sole wording "Gaza must
die". We certainly cannot stop in the face of this crime that is
becoming more and more serious; as humanitarian associations, we
continue to insist on sending basic necessities to the population.
Unfortunately, the "black market" continues to grow and remains the only
possibility to feed the population. This is why collections continue to
send the necessary funds.
While schools have started all over the world, in Gaza the few remaining
ones have become accommodation for displaced people fleeing Israel's
continuous bombing of civilians. A genocidal war that continues without
stopping but also a life that does not stop. The operators and
entertainers try to distract the hundreds of children who have been left
orphaned and with nothing.
"Today in the Al Nuseirat camp," Mona, an operator in Gaza, tells us,
"we organized a day of entertainment and support activities for the
children and we distributed fruit juices and cake, which made them very
happy."
You have to be able to smile and make a generation smile that they want
to make live in terror.
The interventions that are carried out to support the population under
Israeli bombing are of various kinds: preparation of about 2000 meals a
day in the area of Al Mawasi Khan Younis, in partnership with World
Central Kitchen-WCK; biweekly distribution of about 1000 cubic meters of
water in the areas of Deir el Balah, Zawaida and Nuseirat; distribution
of Fresh Vegetables, when available, in different areas; Cash assistance
    for the most disadvantaged families; Psychosocial intervention in
the northern, central and southern area of the Gaza Strip (Beit Lahya,
Deir el Balah, Nuseirat, Rafah, Khan Younis) with thousands of children
involved in each initiative, guided by volunteer workers; recreational
intervention carried out by the Circus Schools, in the shelter spaces
where the displaced population currently lives; activities with women
carried out by the associations of the Gaza Women's Union for active
involvement in this situation of relational difficulty; Cinema in Camp
in the shelters for moments of leisure with young people and children.
Other interventions are being prepared: supply of desalinated water with
the use of solar panels; school classroom in Deir el Balah with
volunteer teachers; Women for Gaza, for the supply of hygienic tents in
various areas of the humanitarian zone, with the sending of hygienic
material for women.

The exhausted population with no prospect of being able to stop this
