Boycotting these elections also serves to prevent a civil war among
voters. ---- We anarchists refuse to vote because it is the result of
the historical phenomena of the parliamentary system and the ineffective
role of voters. It is therefore not necessary to express our position
every time on the eve of each vote. We anarchists have the same
historical position on class sovereignty, parliamentary systems and any
form of government. It is to boycott the vote. We are for
self-organization for the social self-management of our communities as
an alternative.
Likewise, the self-organization of groups in the fields of life, work
and education is an alternative by rejecting all class structures, be
they yellow unions, political parties, parliament, government or the
state itself. This is because we fight for a society self-managed by
people engaged in production and those who truly want to serve society.
The only reason that has driven us, the Kurdish-speaking Anarchist Forum
(KAF), to express our position now more than ever is the sense of
responsibility we feel towards the voters in general and the supporters
of political parties in particular. This responsibility includes taking
a correct position towards wars and civil conflicts, such as those seen
between 1963 and 1987, with the exception of the period from 1970 to
1974, when the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) was in a ceasefire and
negotiation phase with the Iraqi government of the time. The civil war,
which resumed between 1994 and 1998, has cast a shadow over the lives,
existence and dreams of the people of the region. We, the oppressed,
have always been the victims of these wars, while the arms dealers and
politicians have been the victors. After each war, the bourgeois, like
brothers, have sat together and feasted on the blood of the victims.
The possibility of war and the smell of gunpowder and blood of war can
be seen and felt in the speeches and appeals of political party leaders
and party candidates. Any conscious and experienced person senses this
possibility, which has openly become part of the conversation in
people's normal life.
The only obstacle to this war is the boycott of the elections, because
in the event of the defeat of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) or
the KDP, they will start the war with the support of their foreign
supporters. Therefore, we do not only call for the boycott of the vote
and self-management of the masses and society as in previous elections,
this time we also call for a mass and social commitment to eliminate the
possibility of civil war and prevent any form of war.
Our commitment is to prevent the war between the militias of the parties
aspiring to power, which is openly fueled by the secret services of the
Turkish, Iranian and Iraqi governments, while the forces of the PUK are
part of the Iranian government army and those of the KDP are part of the
Turkish government army. The result of the vote will send us the message
of war if they do not get enough votes to govern.
We do not want peace between political parties, capitalists and
authorities, and we will never seek peace and unity between the ranks of
power, nor will we make peace with the authorities, corporate leaders
and the rich. Based on these premises and previous experiences of civil
wars, in preparation for any armed war, we must engage our local groups
and social and mass organizations to expel the militias and government
forces from our homes. This can be done by organizing our own mass
defense and protection. Otherwise, as in previous wars, villages and
cities will become the battlefields of the KDP and PUK, our families and
social structures will be divided into battlefields, and brothers and
sisters will become each other's murderers!
We consider ourselves part of the voice of the protesters of society
and, as a matter of historical responsibility, we declare our decision
to boycott and prepare against civil war. We will not participate in any
coalition or effort of authoritarian groups, political parties or
vanguard groups. We oppose all forms of rulers, whether they come from
parliamentary systems, single party or multi-party politics.
No to voting!
No to elections.
No to armed war.
No to divisions among the exploited.
Yes to revolutionary unity.
