Seventy years ago this year, on November 1, 1954, the insurrection that
would lead to the independence of Algeria began. From its first days, the Libertarian Communist Federation (in France) and the North African
Libertarian Movement (in Algeria) supported the cause of the resistance
against French colonialism. ---- For this 70th anniversary, the Editions
d'Alternative libertaire invite you to rediscover, in bookstores and on
our online store, a book bringing together the testimonies of the
activists of the time: Georges Fontenis (FCL), Léandre Valéro (MLNA),
Guy Bourgeois (Anarchist Groups of Revolutionary Action), Denis Berger
(La Voie communiste).
The book also includes a large iconographic notebook with many photos
taken from private archives, as well as reproductions of the weekly Le
Libertaire, which ended up strangled by the lawsuits brought by the
French state.
Collective, L'Insurrection algérienne et les communistes libertaires,
Ed. d'Alternative libertaire, 2006, 80 pages.
This story is also told in this video.
