On Friday 11 October at the Andrea Ballarò laboratory in Palermo, a
crowded and interesting conference was held, focused on the Kurdish
question and the dangers of global war. ---- The conference was
organized by the Andrea Ballarò Laboratory, the NoGuerra Assembly of
Palermo, and Palermo Solidale con il Popolo Kurdo in conjunction with
the conferences and demonstrations organized by the Kurdistan Network on
the anniversary of the expulsion of Apo Öcalan from Syria in October
1998, which led to his kidnapping in Kenya by the henchmen of the
Turkish government.
The conference was opened by Renato Franzitta who retraced the process
of the kidnapping of Apo Öcalan from his expulsion from Syria, to his
wanderings between Greece, Russia and finally on 12 November 1998 in
Italy. The refusal to grant political refugee status (clearly violating
Articles 10 and 26 of the Italian Constitution which regulate the right
to asylum and prohibit passive extradition in relation to political
crimes) by the Minister of Justice of the D'Alema Government, the
communist Di Liberto, forced Öcalan to leave Italy on 16 January 1999,
to conclude his pilgrimage at the Greek embassy in Nairobi, Kenya and
his kidnapping on 15 February 1999 by the Turkish secret services.
Abdullah Öcalan was bandittiously taken to Turkey and locked up in the
maximum security prison on the island of Imrali in the Sea of Marmara.
On 29 June 1999 he was sentenced to death, a sentence later commuted to
life imprisonment in 2002. Öcalan, who has been a citizen of Palermo
since December 14, 2015, lives in total isolation and has not been able
to receive visits, not even from his lawyers, for two years.
The speech by Virginia Dessy of Palermo Solidale con il Popolo Kurdo
focused on the role of the Kurdish women's movement based on Jineologi,
highlighting the fundamental
participation of Kurdish women in the construction of a new society
based on Democratic Confederalism in Northern Syria and in several
locations in Northern Iraq. A revolutionary experiment constantly under
military attack by Turkish army troops with the full collaboration of
Mas'ud Barzani's PDK in Iraq.
Very significant was the speech by Professor Salvo Vaccaro who analyzed
the current geopolitical situation, highlighting how the war in Ukraine
and the war in the Middle East are the prelude to a global war, the
fourth World War, since, as Sub-Commander Marcos stated thirty years
ago, the third world war has already been fought starting from the Cold
War and in a widespread manner in different parts of the planet. The
shift of the economic and demographic axis from the capitalist West led
by the United States to the Chinese/Indian one (in China and India there
is almost half of the world's population) generates a readjustment of
the geo-strategic balances, and every geopolitical readjustment has
never occurred peacefully but with armed confrontations between the old
that has no intention of giving up the primacy to the new emerging.
Danger of total war with our country on the front line.
Antonio Rampolla on behalf of the NoGuerra Assembly of Palermo
intervened highlighting our distance and incompatibility with the
jihadist policies of Hamas, Hezebolla and other groups with a strong
religious matrix that currently oppose the genocidal Israeli government
led by Netanyahu. Sharing the analysis made by Salvo Vaccaro, Antonio
indicated mass mobilization, boycott and desertion as the way to fight
the war between States. In this perspective, the support and assistance
of all deserters, whether Israeli, Ukrainian or Russian, becomes a
priority, clarifying unequivocally our incompatibility with belonging to
any camp of States at war with each other.
The evening continued with the singing and music of Bruna Perraro who is
at the forefront of the campaign for the release of prisoners in the
prisons of the Turkish regime starting with the Turkish
singer-songwriter Nudem Durak, 34 years old, detained since April 2015,
but also and above all for the release of those who are in Italian
prisons such as Maysoon Majid, Marjan Jamali, Heval Talip and the
supportive Luigi Spera.
The evening ended with two interesting documentaries on the Kurdish
situation and the permanent war that the Erdogan regime has declared on
Democratic Confederalism.
