What does the far right do when a femicide that was not committed by a
foreign person takes place? It turns a blind eye, continues to attackour rights and spreads its hatred throughout the world! ---- This
November 25, as every year, we met on the occasion of the International
Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Gender Minorities.
The year 2024 will have been shaken by numerous cases of sexist and
sexual violence (SVS), testifying to a burning topicality and the fact
that our fights against violence are more than necessary.
On these cases, the right - from the liberal camp to the far right -
felt it had its say. After all, as Bardella declared in a video posted
on June 17, 2024 during the early legislative elections, it is about
"unfailingly guaranteeing every girl and every woman in France their
rights and freedoms"[1]. Marine Le Pen had also tried to give the
illusion that she cared about the fate of women, and that the National
Rally was not ultimately such a misogynistic party.
Our lives? The far right doesn't give a damn
Ah, that! We heard them get outraged, conservatives of all stripes,
fascists and fundamentalist Catholics, on the occasion of the murder of
Philippine in September of this year. Even though the information was
broadcast on a loop on public service channels, on BFMTV and on Bolloré
media. It must be said that Philippine Le Noir de Carlan came from a
family of French nobility, and that the perpetrator of the alleged crime
(of Moroccan nationality) was a repeat rapist subject to an obligation
to leave French territory (OQTF). Prime Minister Bruno Retailleau
announced: "develop our legal arsenal"[2]- meaning find a way to expel
foreigners immediately. MP Hanane Mandouri, who belongs to Eric Ciotti's
party, even organized a minute of silence in front of the Palais de
Justice in Vienna. These lunatics were born before the shame: rather
than letting the families grieve, they prefer to alert all the media to
spread their racist ideas.
We did not hear these same people being scandalized during the 114 other
femicides recorded between January 1 and October 31 by the collective
Nous toutes[3]! These misogynistic murders were mostly committed by
French people from our country, "good fathers," on their partners or
ex-partners. Unfortunately, our politicians must have ignored the news.
But where were they looking during this time?
They were too busy claiming that 77% of perpetrators of rape in Paris
were foreigners, according to information relayed on April 18 on Europe
1. However, these figures, which are based on those of the Paris police
headquarters, only concern 36 people arrested for rapes committed on the
street in Paris in 2023, mostly homeless people among whom people of
foreign nationality are over-represented. These statistics cannot be
extrapolated to the entire Parisian population, let alone the French
population, since only 10% of reported rapes in the capital are
committed on public roads, and these reported rapes represent only 10 to
15% of rapes actually committed[4].
Each year, the count of femicides carried out by feminist associations
exceeds a hundred. One affected, all concerned: we must mobilize widely
to build a balance of power and put an end to this violence.
JEANNE MENJOULET
These statistics are used here dishonestly to promote a racist agenda:
the far right does not care about the truth, it only seeks to assert its
interests. In the vast majority of cases, the rapes are committed by an
acquaintance of the victim, in a private setting, as in the Dominique
Pélicot affair. In this affair, more than 80 apparently ordinary men
were involved[5]. Oddly enough, the far right has remained silent once
again...
Attacking trans rights interests them much more
Well yes, they were too busy being outraged by the fact that a
transgender actress received the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film
Festival at the same time as three other women. Karla Sofia Gascon is in
fact not a woman but a man, Marion Maréchal believes in a tweet posted
on May 26[6]. They would have told Angelina and Géraldine as well, if
these two trans women had not been murdered almost one after the other
in France on July 5 and 9, respectively by an ex-partner and a client.
On that, the right has remained silent as always.
She was too busy defending the many French celebrities who are accused
of rape or sexual assault every year, like Gérard Depardieu who (let's
remember) according to Macron makes "France proud"[7]. In short, she was
too busy supporting rape culture, hiding the fact that murders like
Philippine's are not isolated crimes committed by monsters or even - the
ultimate sacrilege! - by foreigners, but rather the ultimate form of a
whole continuum of violence maintained by our patriarchal system.
Across France, many feminists are organizing to cover walls with
slogans, in the run-up to major events and throughout the rest of the
year. A good way to make our demands widely visible!
WIKIMEDIA (AUTHOR UNKNOWN)
It is up to us, libertarians, feminists, to point the finger at the main
enemy (patriarchy) while denouncing the crude attempts at recovery and
diversion by our political enemies.
No, violence against women and gender minorities is not the work of
"foreigners". No, the defense of women's rights and LGBTI people is not
the prerogative of our Western civilizations. The pseudo-feminists who
recover VSS to defend their racist biases or their civilizing vision
inherited from colonialism have a name: we call them femonationalists,
or civilizational feminists. We must show that each of their arguments
is fallacious and dishonest, ensure that their hateful words are not
heard, cover their stickers wherever they appear, have their events
canceled and forcefully convince that it is against patriarchy that we
must fight, and certainly not against foreigners.
So no, contrary to what Bardella claims, the right and the far right do
not address "all women". Only white, bourgeois, cisgender women,
provided of course that they defend the patriarchal system that
oppresses them.
