In December 2023, the trial of the "December 8th accused" took place,
the first trial for terrorism targeting the left since 2012. A trialmarked by the emptiness of the case file, and the desire to repress
political ideas more than facts. A year later, the accused are awaiting
their appeal trial in November 2025. The UCL reaffirms its support for
them in the face of repression. ---- Four years ago, a wave of arrests
of left-wing activists took place throughout France, led by the National
Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT). Seven people ended up being
incarcerated, in extremely violent conditions: prolonged isolation,
weekly strip searches (for which the State has since been condemned).
Their trial took place last year and led to extremely harsh sentences,
ranging from 2 to 5 years in prison, and the registration of all the
accused in the FIJAIT, a police file that makes life hell for anyone who
finds themselves registered there. An incomprehensible severity in the
face of an empty file, the president of the court herself having to
admit that it did not contain "proof of a successful project". The 16
days of trial showed it: much more than facts, it is above all the
revolutionary and anti-capitalist ideas of the accused that the State
has condemned.
Of the seven accused convicted, six have decided to appeal. This second
trial will take place in November 2025. Faced with judicial harassment,
the accused and their support committees need help, in particular to
meet the considerable legal costs that these trials entail and the
material consequences of the judicial harassment to which they are
subjected.
We share the press releases of the support committees published on
