On January 9th, 2013, in the middle of the day in the center of Paris,
the three Kurdish activists Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Dogan and LeylaSaylemez were murdered with three bullets in each head. A number of
pieces of evidence suggest that this assassination was ordered by the
Turkish state and its secret service. The arrested perpetrator died
shortly before the start of the murder trial in Paris. ---- Almost ten
years later, on December 23rd, 2022, the Kurdish artists Emine Kara and
Mîr Perwer as well as the long-time activist Abdurrahman Kizil were
murdered by a French fascist in a second attack in front of the Ahmet
Kaya cultural center in Paris. Here, too, many questions are still
unanswered.
Since the attack in 2013, the Kurdish freedom movement has mobilized
every year from all over Europe to Paris for a large memorial march for
the murdered. For many years, our French sister organization, the Union
communiste libertaire, has taken part in the demonstration with its own
block. In doing so, they are sending a clear message: the libertarian
movement stands firmly behind the demand for a full investigation into
the attacks and justice for the murdered. It stands firmly on the side
of the Kurdish freedom movement's fight for self-determination,
democratic self-government, the liberation of women and an ecological
perspective.
This international solidarity is urgently needed at the moment. After
the fall of the Assad regime, the democratic self-government in northern
and eastern Syria is being bombed from Turkey and attacked on the ground
by Turkish-financed and controlled Islamist militias. The entire
existence of the self-government and thus of the revolution that began
in 2011 is under threat.
The Kurdish freedom movement is therefore making great efforts to
mobilize for Paris again on January 11, 2025. As in the previous year,
comrades from our organization will also be making their way to the
French capital. There we will join the bloc of comrades from the Union
communiste libertaire. We call on you to come to Paris as well and join
us under the black and red flags.
There will be joint bus trips from many smaller and larger German cities
by the Kurdish freedom movement. These will either be publicly announced
shortly beforehand or can be requested from the Kurdish groups and
associations in your city or region. After the demonstration, the buses
will return to Germany. In previous years, there was sometimes
harassment by the state authorities when arriving, and activists were
sometimes refused entry to France. So be prepared for such eventualities
in any case. During the memorial march itself, there are usually no
major confrontations with the police.
If you want to travel from a city where there is a local group of the
platform, please contact the local groups by email or via their
respective social media channels so that we can travel the journey together.
Truth and justice for the murdered! Solidarity with the Kurdish freedom
movement!
