WORLD WORLDWIDE INTERNATIONAL - ANIMALS - Network for Animals - 2024's wins for animals – thanks to YOU!

This is how you helped us save animal lives worldwide in 2024.

Dear friends,

In 2024, you showed us your heartfelt dedication to animals around the world. Whether in the face of war, disasters or everyday cruelty, your generosity offered hope and life-saving care for thousands of dogs, cats and donkeys across Africa, the Middle East, Europe and beyond.

Here’s a look at just some of the lives you helped improve in 2024.

South Africa, Cape Town

Protecting street dogs and saving shelter animals who lost their only home

Thanks to your generosity in 2024, our partner, Fallen Angels, was able to continue caring for 350 dogs and cats at its shelter, while supporting around 400 more in Cape Town’s most dangerous, gang-controlled areas, where animals often suffer severe abuse, neglect, disease and hunger. We also launched a life-saving sterilization and vaccination program, helping to improve the lives of 350 animals in Atlantis.

Now, Fallen Angels is facing the daunting task of relocating all 350 animals from its shelter after being evicted because of safety concerns at a nearby nuclear power station. Thanks to your support, we have already started construction on a new, safe shelter for the animals, and are working to raise the funds we need to complete this project as soon as possible.

Spain, Cordoba

Rescuing abused Spanish greyhounds from the brutal hunting industry

Every year, as many as 500,000 Spanish greyhounds (also known as galgos) are bred for the hunting industry, and tens of thousands are discarded and killed when they are no longer deemed ‘useful.’ Thanks to your support, we help three galgo rescue centers in Spain and are advocating for better legal protection for these abused animals. In 2024 alone, your donations helped save around 300 galgos from breeding farms and supported their ongoing care and rehabilitation. Together with our partner, the Brady Hunter Foundation, we also recently funded a new rescue vehicle for our team on the ground, ensuring they can continue saving lives.

Tanzania, Mwanza

Vaccinating thousands of vulnerable dogs against rabies

Rabies is a massive problem in Tanzania, with frequent outbreaks among the street dog population leading to fear-driven killing sprees, sometimes even sanctioned by the government. Together with our partner, Lake Zone Animal Welfare Organization, we help to stop these culls by advocating for and launching humane rabies vaccination campaigns.

In 2024, thanks to your unwavering generosity, we took part in the biggest World Rabies Day campaign in Tanzania’s history, which saw more than 5,000 animals vaccinated in a single day. Your donations contributed towards the vaccines and funded transportation for 50 volunteer vets across 20 vaccination sites in the Mwanza region.

Ukraine

Saving animal victims of war from suffering and death

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, we have been on the ground, saving animals from the worst of the violence – and when others have moved on, we have stayed. In 2024, we were on the frontlines ourselves and provided emergency rescue and care for war-torn animals. Thanks to your donations, we replaced an animal ambulance destroyed by Russian forces, helped establish a new animal sanctuary, expanded a dog shelter and provided critically needed funding for ongoing feeding and rescue missions for animals on the frontlines.

Kenya, Lamu

Sterilizing sick, starving and suffering street cats

In Lamu, Kenya, 10,000 sick and starving street cats are fighting for survival every day. The cats are so hungry that they scrounge for scraps from open sewers and dirty rubbish heaps. Almost all of them are sick – infected with cat flu, ridden with mange and suffering from disfiguring cancerous growths. We launched a vital sterilization campaign to end the tragic, endless cycle of birth, hunger, disease and death for these cats, and we are proud to announce that in 2024, we reached the milestone of sterilizing 3,500 cats over the past three years.

Israel, Herut

Rescuing hundreds of donkeys from the war zone amid the Israel-Hamas conflict

Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, our partner, Starting Over Sanctuary (SOS) has supported over 200 donkeys rescued from the war zones in Gaza and Israel, adding to the 1,000 animals already in their care. Facing soaring food and veterinary bills amid the conflict, your donations enabled the delivery of much-needed relief, which helped cover food, emergency veterinary care and fuel for ongoing rescue missions.

Your generosity made every success we achieved for animals in 2024 possible. Every dog, cat and donkey rescued, fed, treated and comforted is a direct result of your donations. Please continue to stand with us in the fight for the animals who so desperately need our help – in 2025 and beyond.

You will not believe how many animals are being abused today. With your support, we can save precious lives that would otherwise be lost! Our work never stops, and the need is always urgent. We receive no assistance from any government. What we do, we do because animals need us. We aim to extend our crusade to help animals to more countries where animals desperately need emergency relief.
