February 16th will be marked by the popular struggle against the
exhausting workday and for a dignified life for the working class. We no
longer accept a model of exploitation that sacrifices our health, our
time and our lives to enrich the bosses. The time has come to build,
with class independence and solidarity, a strong grassroots movement to
end the 6x1 workday and reduce working hours for everyone, without
reducing wages.
It's time to transform indignation into mobilization on the streets! In
every corner of the country, we need to organize demonstrations, strikes
and preparatory agitation and propaganda actions, so that this issue
increasingly reaches those who suffer directly from abusive working
hours and precarious work conditions.
Working class victories are achieved through direct struggle and not in
the hope of government concessions. The current government, which claims
to defend the oppressed classes, and the large trade unions tied to the
bosses have shamefully failed to address the most urgent demands of the
working class. Some unions, such as the Commercial Workers' Union of
Porto Alegre/RS, have even signed agreements that deepen exploitation,
such as the infamous 10x1 workday at the Zaffari chain.
We join the call for action on the 16th and stand together to promote
this struggle. It is necessary to organize local meetings to organize
the actions! Dialogue in the workplaces, housing and schools to expand
the mobilization!
February 16th needs to be a relevant episode in the fight for decent
working conditions and time to live!
For the end of the 6x1 workday! For a reduction in working hours without
a reduction in wages! For a self-managed society, without exploitation
and without bosses!
