 On the morning of Monday 13/3/2023, the "Student Movement for

Libertarian Organization at the Base" occupied the Rectorate of the
National University of Athens, creating a center of struggle in the
heart of the city against the degradation of the lives of those from
below, with the sharpest points being the state-capitalist crime in
Tempi, Presidential Decree 85 against artists and the anti-educational
law 4777 for universities, in the context of the general restructuring
of education and defending the social character of the asylum. This
movement took place amidst occupations of theaters and art schools
across the country and daily mobilizations, with the participation of
thousands of people, who flooded the streets against the system that
impoverishes, oppresses and murders.
The occupation of the NKUA rectory was surrounded from the very first
hour by heavily armed police forces, who for 18 days blocked access to
the building and brought in people in solidarity who tried to give food,
medicine and clothes to the squatters. Despite the police blockade of
the occupation, during all these days, solidarity activists, students
and students were present daily at the Propylaea either spontaneously in
a sign of solidarity with the project and the squatters or by holding
gatherings, cultural events and concerts to provide financial support.
At dawn on March 30, a police invasion and evacuation of the occupied
rectory took place with the consent of the rectory authorities and the
squatters were arrested, facing charges of disrupting the operation of
the service, illegal violence and disobedience.
Today, when the state and capital continue to intensify their attack on
the social base, promoting the anti-social restructuring of exclusions,
exploitation and repression. the large demonstrations and strikes, the
continuous mobilizations, the occupations of universities, the
occupations of art schools and theaters, the reoccupation of Mundo Nuevo
in Thessaloniki and the occupation of the rectory of the National
University of Athens by students and solidarity people of that period
continue to send the message of social resistance. The only bulwark
against state and capitalist barbarity is social uprising, social
self-organization, class solidarity and collective struggle.
The goal of power and its administrators at any given time was and is
terrorism, control and profit, at any cost. Our goal, that of the
exploited, the oppressed, the great social majority, must be the
organization of our resistance and the intensification of our struggle
for the overthrow of this system and the building of a new world that
will contain all worlds, an emancipated, revolutionary world of
equality, freedom, solidarity.
