A few of us are hoping to create opportunities for anti-nuclear meetings
and discussions in Brittany and Normandy this spring (April, May, June).
This desire for an infotour also aligns with the prospects for struggles
such as the meetings against nuclear waste in La Hague from July 18 to
20, 2025 (more information at piscinenucleairestop.fr). ---- Brief: ----
Faced with the revival of nuclear power, the extension of the lifespan
of existing reactors, the earthworks already started at Penly and the
connection to the Flamanville EPR network, ---- Faced with the CIGÉO
nuclear waste project, the implementation of which is progressing in
Bure (Meuse) with new procedures (expropriations, Declaration of public
utility obtained, Administrative declaration of creation in progress,
railway project, etc.) (more information on bureburebure.info)
Faced with specific repression (ex-Malfaiteureuses de Bure
(noussommestousdesmalfaiteurs), Association malfaiteurs de POMA (
https://bureburebure.info/enfouisso... ), files specific to anti-nuke
activists ( https://reporterre.net/Les-antinucl... )...)
Faced with the enormous funds allocated to research on mini-reactors (SMR).
Faced with operations to seduce young people into training in nuclear
professions
Faced with plans for three additional nuclear waste pools at La Hague,
supported by Orano.
We would like to organize an information tour that can take different
forms depending on the location and desires, but whose intentions are to:
Relaunch anti-nuclear struggle centers (or remobilize existing ones).
Mobilize in view of the summer meetings in La Hague and strengthen the
fight against its nuclear pools
Find new ways to support the fight in Bure and tackle the companies
profiting from this project.
etc!!
We would like our infotour to also help deconstruct the preconceived
ideas that "nuclear power would save the climate" or that "nuclear power
would be necessary in the face of the Russian threat," which have been
drummed into our heads for several years by nuclear power experts, to
make us forget the dangers of nuclear power (such as the Fukushima
disaster) and to better accept the recovery program.
We would like to be able to provide a space for exchanges, discussions
and reflections on the context of the current nuclear revival.
These discussions are intended to be public and accessible, even outside
of activist circles; they can take the form of screenings, open
discussions, etc.
We are launching this call to facilitate the organization of this
infotour, because we know from experience that it is sometimes difficult
and tedious to individually contact all the groups and places likely to
host us and to organize the sequence of dates, communication and
mobilization; and as we already know that we will do this infotour in
the spring, we prefer to prepare it more calmly from now on.
Do not hesitate to respond to our call, and contact us if you are
interested in helping us co-organize one or more dates, or if you have
contacts in mind with whom this would be possible.

Anti-nuclear, again and again!
Below we publish the call for an information tour in Brittany and
Normandy against nuclear power. This call for an information tour comes
from groups that chose not to join the anti-nuclear coordination.
We have published several articles on the revival of the civil and
military nuclear program and the attempts to mobilize against it. We
have notably reported on the mobilizations organized by the anti-nuclear
coordination, which was created for this purpose. The divergences within
the anti-nuclear movement (or what remains of it) are very significant,
and are real political divergences (place of political parties, NGOs
like Greenpeace, methods of struggle, methods of decision-making, type
of argument against nuclear power, etc.).
Normandy is (along with Drôme) the most nuclearized region in France: La
Hague, Cherbourg, Penly, Flamanville, Paluel... It is a region where the
anti-nuclear struggle is therefore particularly difficult. There were
two major demonstrations for the region, one in Caen last March against
the start-up of Flamanville and one in Rouen on October 12 against the
relaunch which is due to start with 2 EPRs in Penly, organized as part
of the anti-nuclear coordination. Even if the results of these
demonstrations are mixed, they mark a reawakening of mobilization in
Normandy, an awakening begun since the end of 2021 by the mobilization
against the extension of La Hague and the construction of new swimming
pools, with the creation of the Stop Nuclear Pools collective. This
collective is a local creation, and with a significantly younger average
age than many anti-nuclear collectives. This is a real and welcome
novelty. That said, this local presence comes at a price: initially, the
collective did not define itself as anti-nuclear. (1)
This collective will organize three days of meetings, discussions, and
actions on the issue of nuclear waste and territories on July 18, 19,
and 20 in La Hague. This is an important deadline.
In the same way that waste has always been part of the nuclearocrats'
unspoken agenda, when Macron decreed the relaunch of the nuclear
program, he made no mention of either Bure or La Hague. These two
territories are, however, on the front line. Since the announcement of
the relaunch, Cigeo's offensive has intensified in Bure, including new
expropriation procedures. And of course, La Hague was already
overflowing well before the idea of a relaunch began, so for the future,
how can we put it... It should also be remembered that La Hague is
located at the intersection of civil and military nuclear power. The
purpose of La Hague is reprocessing, and reprocessing isn't about
reducing waste; it's about trying to extract plutonium and possibly
other reusable nuclear materials, even if it means increasing the volume
of waste.
This infotour is an interesting mobilization initiative, which is why
we're publishing this call and urge our readers to welcome and meet them.
