Justice is being conquered in the streets! ---- The world of the state
and capital is in obvious decay, decay that is always woven and fedmethodically and always at the expense of our own lives. The political
representatives of each time trumpet about "accidents" and "deviations",
cover up state murders and mass destruction of entire regions,
"modernize" basic goods, selling them off to private capital, magically
appear bags, make audio recordings disappear and ultimately muddle the
"crime scene", suppressing those who struggle. Today, more clearly than
ever, these attacks cannot be hidden under any veil of legality and the
rule of law.
The Hellenic Train Intercity 62 route on 28/2/23 plays the biggest role
in the long death list signed by the state with the death of 57 people
and the injury of hundreds. The sale of TRAINOSE in 2017 to Ferrovie
Dello Strato Italiane and the utilization of wagons that were considered
for withdrawal from Switzerland, was perhaps the first stone for the
alleged "upgrade", at a time when understaffing and the negligible care
for safety systems were pre-empting a predetermined murder of the
collision of the two trains and the subsequent explosion. The state and
institutions are attempting in every possible way to silence the state
murder or to shift the blame elsewhere, to declare false scholarships,
to conceal the illegal transport of flammable substances in the freight
car, to falsify and destroy evidence and testimonies.
But two years later, while Serbia has been holding its own "Tempi" since
November, on Sunday, January 26, the street became the natural field,
the space where from one end of the country to the other, society
demanded "JUSTICE" against every attempt at state laundering and
pseudo-media movements targeting the families of the victims and the
struggling world.
To those who still believe that we activists are politicizing and
exploiting death, we answer again and clearly that EVERY DEATH IN OUR
DAYS IS STATE MURDER.
The cloak of "development" is worn on every aspect of our daily lives,
with devastating consequences. From the highest form of state and
capitalist barbarity, war, which is practically supported and instigated
by the Western states of "justice" and "freedom", to the looting and
destruction of entire regions, to labor "accidents", to the shipwreck of
Pylos and overall to the daily murders of immigrants at water and land
borders, to trafficking rings and the cover-ups of (child) rapists. From
the ever-increasing precision, to the energy crisis, to the subsequent
increases in the prices of basic products, to the "redevelopment" and
gentrification of neighborhoods and by extension the increase in rents,
to evictions and auctions, to unemployment and starvation wages that are
legally "shielded" by the Hatzidakis law. And at the same time, this
list cannot be missing the complete privatization of basic public goods
such as health, as we experienced it in the most shameful way during the
pandemic and the understaffing of the National Health System, but also
as it continues to intensify with the complete reshaping of the
healthcare map. All of these constitute a daily "noose" of power and
profit that tightens the necks of the oppressed, seeking in every
possible way to impose modern totalitarianism as legitimate.
We cannot exclude education from the agenda with cost-benefit indicators
of the state, since it has always been a strategic social field that the
respective power will exploit in order to shield its dominance. The
attack is all-front and already starts from the secondary level (EVE,
mergers, intensification, "supervisions" to deal with "delinquency",
etc.). In fact, recently the state and bosses have been using a twofold
method to impose "order" and excellence in schools: the categorization
of schools with the practical example of the Onassis Schools, that is,
the embodiment of the inflow of private capital, and on the other hand
the criminalization of the actions of teachers who react to individual
evaluation and the evaluation of a school unit with vengeful imposition
of disciplinary measures.
In our field, universities have always been both a field of movement
flourishing and, by extension, a field of a priori ideological
suppression of these movements. Both the Kerameos-Chrysochoidis law,
which established the existence of police and security systems,
expulsions and disciplinary proceedings, and the revision of article 16,
which "by decree" opened the way for further dependence of the knowledge
offered on private funds, together with other smaller-scale practices,
compose a mosaic of authoritarianism that leaves us exposed to the
barbarity of the "free university". Often disguised under false
pretenses of upgrading the infrastructure and the knowledge provided,
behind libraries, canteens and agreements with the army, we saw plaster
and elevators fall, suffocating classrooms. And whenever this
ideological repression confronted us with movements, marches and
occupations, the state sought to extract consensus through direct
repression, methodical attacks on cultural and political actions, the
evacuations of venues and the invasion of police into mobilizations (see
Researcher's Night, SOFETH mobilization), the countless arrests of
activists, but also the "transfer" of extermination into courtrooms, as
we saw with the vengeful sentencing of those arrested during the second
evacuation of the Rectorate in 2021.
But all this has always been more or less known and we clearly have no
illusions that, faced with the suffocating grip of power, we will manage
to respond by way of individualism or delegation logic. In recent years,
we have seen countless movements systematically integrate themselves at
the ballot boxes, channeling their hopes for a better world to third
parties. We have seen fatalism advancing into the "seats" of our
struggles, as if some "engineered god" would save us. Now, we also see
fascists trying in vain to articulate a discourse on such issues, as if
they were not sides of the same coin of state and parastate. It is
known, after all, that when the state apparatus has difficulty
controlling the masses, it calls in its best minions, the assault
battalions.
Despite this, we have also seen the example of the students and society
of Serbia, who, against the backdrop of the times, through unyielding
self-organized mobilizations and occupations, managed to overthrow the
government, but without stopping there.
Today, more urgently than ever, the necessity of our mobilization, the
synthesis of multidimensional struggles, the creation of the conditions
where, against impoverishment, we will be able to sow and cultivate
equality, solidarity and emancipation, emerges. To occupy our schools,
proposing libertarian characteristics against guild and bureaucratic
logics. To take to the streets militantly and radically, breaking the
terrorism that they are trying to impose on us. Until our lives are no
longer considered negligible in the face of profit, until we break the
authoritarian chains of modern totalitarianism, until we build a society
of equality and freedom.
Because there is no peace without justice. Because no institution will
deliver justice, as this is the essence of the state: to protect the
interests of the few.
That is why justice is only achieved on the streets of struggle. That is
why in today's world, justice can only mean rebellion!
