If the situation were not tragic, to paraphrase Flaiano it would be
comical. Grotesquely comical, closer to Bagaglino than Woody Allen and, perhaps for this very reason, not even that funny. ---- After 3 years of
war and an unspecified but very high number of deaths (but who counts
the deaths, as De André would sing "the fault is of those who die"), the
master of the USA and the world (well, of a part of the world) takes off
his progressive mask and puts on that of "the new sheriff in town" (to
use the literal words of Vice President Vance). ---- Obviously, under
the mask there is always the USA. The master changes, not their
interests. However, in a Europe supine to Atlanticism but educated in
the good manners of the "High Society", this is a real shock. "But how"
"we bled ourselves dry to support the Ukrainian puppet, this one comes
along and with a phone call and a meeting literally sends us all to hell".
Perhaps a list of the end that all the US allies have met in the last
century would have brought greater caution both to the
comedian-president and to the union-European group.
But no! With Hitler's followers popping up at every corner, not even
mushrooms when it rained, Europe had to be the last bastion against the
Russian invasion, which, wait and see this time the Cossacks really do
come to drink from the fountains of St. Peter (but then where the hell
these fountains are I've never understood).
This has been the narrative of these last 3 years and practically
everyone has joined in this narrative. Anyone who has tried to think
even slightly differently has been treated as an idiot and, obviously, a
Putin supporter (who knows who did business with the "Hitler" of the
Kremlin until yesterday).
What was really shocking were not the (legitimate? can we still say
that?) disagreements on international issues, but the transformation of
serious scholars, respected university professors, authors of important
(often essential) research and studies, into rabid keyboard bullies. A
sort of late-adolescent drift (almost always male, although with some
exceptions) where the figure of the other - reduced to a simulacrum -
was transformed into the absolute enemy on which one's own hypertrophic
ego could reflect, repeating ignoble epithets such as "pacifists"
(Mussolini used those of "bellyfichista" and "paciafondaio"). All this
was done by abusing one's figure as an authoritative personality,
forgetting that in the world of scientific research "ipse dixit" has no
legitimacy and that, when it comes to current affairs, everyone, I
repeat everyone, starts from scratch. Even the esteemed President of the
Republic, a Christian Democrat who has become, who knows why, a sort of
untouchable, almost papal (in reality a very mediocre politician, much
less capable than execrated presidents of the past like Giovanni Leone,
said without any irony) tries, with the bowls now at a standstill, to
compare the Russian attack on Ukraine to the actions of the Third Reich.
A curious historical default (but who writes his speeches? And does he
realize what he reads?) given that Italy was an ally of the Third Reich
and that the USSR was the invaded country that had 27 million deaths.
No, it is the "Russian attacks" on the President that are unacceptable.
But imagine if they got angry because they called him a Nazi! These
Russians are always unpredictable. Especially since a President of the
Republic speaks on behalf of his country and not to stay late at the bar
between one drink and another.
It is clear that Trump has no interest in peace, if by that we mean an
agreement between the two states at war. What he has in mind is clear: a
relaxed relationship with Russia to distance it from China, the real
global big-player and the only truly competitive entity for the USA.
There are obviously also direct economic interests, but the rare earth
joke seems more like a superstructure (for real charity) compared to a
strategic project that is much less crazy than the media system wants to
make it appear (by the way, how long will it take for the "let's defeat
Russia" media to realign themselves?). This is evident from the actions
on the other front (there are no Nazis here, so much so that the
well-deserving Mattarella met the namesake Herzog, the one who signed
the bombs that fell on Gaza) where the idea of deporting all the
Palestinians is the same as Netanyahu's (who in fact was waiting for
Trump's election to start the negotiation process). This is a
far-reaching plan, with Israel becoming the only power in the Middle
East, the Arab countries incorporated into the Abraham Accords, and Iran
isolated (the aim is to distance Russia not only from China but also
from the country of the Ayatollahs).
And where is Europe? The photo of that pseudo meeting in Paris expresses
it very well. Europe (or rather the EU) no longer exists and is hiding
behind support for Zelensky that, alone, without the American
shadow["this war is much more important for Europe than it is for us
(...) We have a big, beautiful ocean that separates us," Trump
said)][1]it will not be able to continue.
So, it is clear that the negotiations that began just a few days after
February 24, 2022 should have been supported, making Europe the land of
the peace conference. Instead, it was preferred to give the
ultimatum.[2]There was nothing to concede to Putin, there was a need to
understand how to resolve the crisis. But the idea of an "unconditional
surrender" came up. A dystopian madness that has almost never existed in
modern history and, above all, cannot exist with respect to a nuclear
power. The "unconditional surrender" that was imposed on the Third
Reich, aside from the fact that we are talking (again!) about the Third
Reich, was necessary because the allies had very little trust in the
USSR and vice versa.
However, it must be clear, this path, which would seem to have been the
most "rational", was not all that practicable (unless there was a real
break between the EU and the USA) since that war is not and never was
between Russia and Ukraine but between the USA (in the "democratic"
version), NATO and Russia.
The aim, probably, was not even to defeat Punti. but to economically
destroy his country. A strategy that seems to have had the opposite
effect, throwing him into the arms of China and widening the distance
between the West and some of the most populous countries on the planet.
The other effect, clear and perhaps already foreseen, was the enormous
damage to European countries, among Russia's top economic partners (and
they would also be Iran's if a crazy embargo hadn't prevented it). Who
now buy raw materials at exorbitant prices and see the resurgence of
inflation similar to that of the 1970s, that is, not linked to excess
demand but caused by the increase in energy prices (prices that have
increased above all due to financial speculation) and which is fought,
in a suicidal manner with the usual deflationary practices. But the blow
for the EU also came, literally, with the most serious act of sabotage
since the Second World War: the destruction of the North Stream 2 by
Great Britain and the USA. Proving that that war was a much bigger deal
than a ridiculous regional conflict.
Now there is no need for it anymore (and even Biden in the final part of
his mandate was trying to distance himself, although historically the
Democrats have always been more warmongering than the Republicans) and
we can unload the puppet and the whole theater that, as mentioned, will
try (for how long?) to take on a war that it cannot sustain.
In this situation, which in the end seems quite clear, what does the
"left" do? It continues to beat itself in the lower parts. Further to
the right than Meloni in terms of military aid, it is struggling in a
scenario that it cannot understand, having been accustomed for years to
no longer reasoning about important issues, the historical economic
phases, infantilized in language and methods and completely flattened on
a capitalism that is continually transforming and certainly does not ask
permission from Schlein.
Its newspapers, now unreadable news items, have nothing better to do
than attack Conte by putting words in his mouth that he did not
say[3]and/or pretending not to understand.
The war is over, gentlemen, and you have lost it. Ask Severgnini[4]for a
refund of the ticket ("we win!") and start thinking about the future, if
you have one left.
