In the previous issues of this newspaper, a debate was opened on the
Israeli-Palestinian question and on the vision we have of it, from our
geographical and cultural point of view. Having expressed reservations
about the work of Hamas, while remaining firm in their contribution to
the Palestinian Resistance, has caused a stir and the accusation of
"nitpicking what is happening in Palestine". ---- However, the
ethnocentric perspective (or Eurocentric, if you prefer) has nothing to
do with warning about the political vision of a particular political
formation. The perplexity does not lie in the fact that Hamas
contributes to the Palestinian Resistance, contrasting Israeli hegemony;
rather, the question is whether a movement of Islamic fundamentalist
origin can actually represent, in a future perspective and perspective,
an instrument of direct democracy for the tormented Palestinian people,
or not.
Indirectly, we have confirmation of this because, cunningly, the State
of Israel also secretly foments the rise and consensus that Hamas enjoys
among the Palestinians, with the intent of destroying what remains of
the PLO. Hamas represents for the State of Israel the ethical mask with
which to justify the atrocities of its genocide; the weakness of a
democratic movement within the forces of the Palestinian Resistance
makes it much easier for Netanyahu to carry out Islamophobic propaganda.
We must say these things, because otherwise it would not even make sense
to call ourselves internationalists and socialists.
In truth, it is happening that someone is making the mistake of falling
into the theory of dualism and typical Western bipolarism. Even if
perhaps they do not want to be told, someone has implemented the lesson
of "soup or wet bread" well; it is that same lesson that sees the
dichotomy "Republicans vs. Democrats" in the USA, as if nothing else
existed outside of that paradigm. And he has learned it so well that he
fiercely criticizes that same "game" when, during elections, the parties
with the greatest consensus call for a "useful vote." But if it doesn't
work in these cases, it must never work. Alas, here's where the donkey
falls when it comes to Palestine, with the perceived burden of having to
praise Hamas for the desire to counter the genocide perpetrated by the
Israeli state.
The idea that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" must be opposed,
because it leads to simplifications on the skin of those who suffer
tragedies; and they are the same simplifications that some criticize
with regard to those who manipulate public opinion, diverting elections
to the "useful vote."
The task of socialists and anarchists is to always highlight the truth,
even if this means making an effort to understand its complexities:
neither with Israel, nor with Hamas, but with the oppressed Palestinian
population.
