On March 8, International Women's Day, the Anarchist Federation of
Espírito Santo (FACA) reaffirms its commitment to the fight against all
forms of oppression and exploitation that affect women, especially those
who also face racism, LGBTQphobia, precarious work and institutional
violence. ---- Patriarchy, supported by the State and capitalism, is a
central tool of domination that subordinates women, makes their
contributions invisible and represses their voices. Therefore, we
understand that feminist emancipation will only be complete when it is
connected to the anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian struggle,
building a world based on equality, solidarity and mutual respect.
On this day, we do not remember or celebrate superficial achievements or
empty speeches promoted by governments and corporations that continue to
profit from inequality. We celebrate the historical resistance of women
who, since the beginnings of anarchist organization, have been
protagonists in the struggle for social justice. We recognize the
fundamental role of working, peasant, indigenous, black and peripheral
women who, even under multiple layers of oppression, continue to build
barricades against the system. FACA calls on all exploited and oppressed
women to join the construction of autonomous, horizontal and combative
spaces, where we can organize without hierarchies or tutelage.
The struggle of women is an essential part of the anarchist struggle,
because we know that social transformation will only be possible with
the active participation of all people in their diversity. Against
patriarchy, capitalism and the authoritarian state, we demand a future
where no one is dominated or exploited!
This March 8th is yet another call for unity and direct action:
together, we will build the foundations for a free, egalitarian and
truly human society. Prostitutes, domestic workers, single mothers,
students, factory workers - all are essential in this journey.
Let's organize! The revolution will be feminist or it won't be.
