Following our invitation to an anti-nuclear info tour in Brittany and
Normandy this spring, we are pleased to announce the dates! Although thecurrent context is particularly bleak, there are every good reason to
fight against nuclear power: the national revival of nuclear power, and
locally, the new projects in La Hague; the attempt to connect the
Flamanville EPR to the grid; the EPR2 projects in Penly and elsewhere
(for which there are already manufacturing defects in the concrete!);
the Framatome plant project in Cordemais for the prefabrication and
assembly of nuclear piping for the EPR2, and the EUR10 billion
construction site in Saint-Nazaire for a new nuclear-powered aircraft
carrier...
Despite all the technical problems facing the nuclear industry, nuclear
power will not stop on its own: the anti-nuclear fight is necessary and
needs renewed impetus today.
Contrary to popular propaganda, we want to state that no, nuclear power
will not save the climate, any more than so-called renewable or
alternative energies, which, like nuclear power, are part of the
capitalist industrial system that is the source of plunder and
devastation around the world.
Regarding nuclear power, that's not the issue: it is a tool of
capitalism and the French state. It is a militaristic energy at the
service of capital that promotes an even more horrific society, with the
help of artificial intelligence and techno-fascism. Following local
struggles, nuclear power plant projects have been abandoned: Erdeven (50
years since the project was abandoned this year!), Le Carnet, Le
Pellerin, Plogoff, etc. Similarly, potential nuclear waste disposal
sites in the west were abandoned in Fougères, in Orne and Segréen, etc.
(before Bure was chosen for the CIGEO project).
Other, more recent struggles against the Flamanville EPR and its
high-voltage line followed, without the same success, but they succeeded
in developing a sense of struggle. Today, we find others in the fight
against the nuclear waste disposal project in Bure, in the Meuse. Closer
to home, nuclear power activists are now seeking the "approval of the
future," the name given to Orano's gigantic new project in La Hague,
which will primarily include a MOX plant and not one but three new
nuclear waste storage pools-even if it means grabbing the last remaining
land in the Landes region for the industrial site's expansion.
So, from July 18 to 20, 2025, the Piscine Nucléaire Stop collective is
organizing the Haro! camp in La Hague to oppose it.
